Welcome!

Hello IR393davis and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. We encourage you to read our instructions for students. Your instructor may wish to add your class to our list of school and university projects and s/he may want to read these instructions for teachers. For more help about educational projects using Wikipedia, see our classroom coordination project.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{EducationalAssignment}} on the discussion page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! --Geniac (talk) 22:12, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Signing name

edit

I see you just signed your name with you username on the class discussion page. On Wikipedia, we generally sign talk pages with 4 tildas or ~~~~ which automatically adds the date and username instead of just the date. This time a automated bot added the date/time for you, but in the future I hope you will use the standard signature that way people can easily recognize when you made your comment, Sadads (talk) 00:34, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia on Campus Facebook page

edit

Hi IR393davis,

Thanks for being part of the Wikipedia Public Policy Initiative! I'm LiAnna Davis, the communications associate for the Initiative, and I wanted to let you know that we have a Facebook page, facebook.com/WikipediaOnCampus designed to keep students like you up to date on the latest news, events, photos, videos, and hints to help you edit. If you're on Facebook, please check it out!

Happy editing! Ldavis (Public Policy) (talk) 21:27, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Public Policy mentor

edit

Hello Tim, I just saw your message on my talk page. I had missed it earlier. My name is Evangeline and yes, I can be your mentor. Do you have any questions about Wikipedia? Also, if you want, you can either chat with me in IRC or IM. Just drop me a message here or on my talk page. Bejinhan talks 13:47, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't have any initial questions but I'm sure there will be a few as the semester goes on. I look forward to working with you. IR393davis (talk) 17:55, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looking forward to working with you too. :) Bejinhan talks 12:10, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Log in first for optimal performance

edit

Hi, Tim. Please always log in to your account before editing. I see that you were not logged in when you added your footnote today. When you are not logged in, your edits look like they are from an anonymous user, and it makes other editors suspicious of them. Also, logging in and editing from your account increases your account's permissions and makes it easier for other editors to communicate with you. Plus you can set preferences for your account (see the preferences button above) to make editing more convenient for you. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:54, 15 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
