Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Andy Segal, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. — SMcCandlish   Talk⇒ ɖ∘¿¤þ   Contrib. 06:42, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits to User talk:SMcCandlish could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. While the threat was delivered anonymously, by 173.77.173.111, the wording in the text and in your recent dispute at Talk:Andy Segal indicates that you are the same person. — SMcCandlish   Talk⇒ ɖ∘¿¤þ   Contrib. 07:02, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text , but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.

Indisputable of conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Hudsonapa. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Andy Segal, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

 • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
 • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
 • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
 • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Hudsonapa (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

There were people saying lies about me and I was not aware that I could not ask them to stop or else face legal action. Now that I know that I can't do this, I will just let people say whatever they want and if it is slanderous, I will report it to an administrator. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Hudsonapa (talk) 21:21, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I'm unable to unblock you, because of the current threat of legal action, which mandates an indefinite block. I would strongly urge you to make contact with the Wikimedia Foundation and allow one of our experienced editors to try and deal with this issue. If you can e-mail info-en-q@wikimedia.org with the details of the case, and ideally reliable sources that can be used to rectify issues with your article, things can be taken care of and a mutually acceptable compromise on the article achieved, I'm sure. Nick (talk) 22:22, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

As requested by another administrator, I am posting another unblock request. I am not the subject of the article and I retract the legal threat. I have already apologized for making this threat and not knowing all of the fine details of the rules within Wikipedia. I am hopeful that this mistake does not result in a lifetime ban.

Accept reason:

As you have retracted the legal threat (and with the understanding that you will do what you have said you will do in your earlier unblock request, I am unblocking you. Please however do read carefully the comments above about conflicts of interest and the material at Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. Dougweller (talk) 14:18, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Andy Segal may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • Technical Advisor for Sweet and Lowdown|"Sweet & Lowdown" (1999)]] -- A film starring Woody Allen & Sean Penn.

Andy Segal overhaul

edit

I really worked the article over (hours worth), fixing up citations, removing trivia like elementary school, improving the lead section (e.g. should mention key facts like world records, not trivia like where he used to hang out), tracking down archive URLs for now-dead web pages, reformatting stuff to fit our layout standards, removal of promotional links per WP:EL, adding wikilinks (many of them are read due to missing articles, but we need those articles so they'll be blue eventually), and yadda yadda. It's really looking up. I think it would not quite pass Good Article nominations yet, due to a few remaining citation problems, and probably some potential trivia (e.g. some of the really specific location details might not be considered specific, but I guess that's up to the reviewers).  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  16:40, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

PS: I also reassessed the article as C-class (up from Start-class), and as High priority in cue sports (he's a world champion and multiple world-record holder), and took the dispute banners off of the top of the page, since the disputes are resolved.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  17:04, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
