Message from Narutofanz edit

Hey HubHikari, do you know any admins? Coz with this wikipedia bot called ClueBot, I think its malfunctioning as it has been accusing some users about vandalism when they didn't do anything. Just some complaints I have recieved that I thought I should address about. --Narutofanz (talk) 00:24, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey, do u happen to know any1 who can ban others. Just in case I catch someone who vandalises other pages. Narutofanz

Narutofanz, you'd want to take that up with an admin; they have the power to set blocks and bans. For a starting point towards dispute resolution, you can open a Request for Comment on the user in question; this will invite others to comment on the situation, and, if the situation necessitates it, bring in an admin. I hope this helps. Another thing, though: PLEASE be sure to sign your comments with --~~~~ , just for style. Also, don't simply edit a previous comment, as it destroys the history of a talk page. Yours, --HubHikari 13:17, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey know any good admins around here? Some assholes have been continuously vandalising the Naruto Shippuden Episode List Page.--Narutofanz 08:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reverted "Vandalism" edit

Hi, I know it was all the way back in May, but thanks for reverting the vandalism in my user page. But actually, I made all those edits to my page without signing in! Thank you anyway.. good looking out! :) Guanaco152003 18:37, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lightdarkness edit

Once again, my regged account seems to have been dominated by Lightdarkness' block. Can someone please advise, and perhaps offer assistace? --HubHikari 13:29, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are meant to use {{unblock}} in these case, and paste the block message (and possibly your IP address) here on your talk page. Also, what is the nature of the IP? Is it a school, AOL etc.--Commander Keane 13:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
If you had checked the link to my archives, I've already had a problem with this block. Apparently, someone at my school enjoys vandalizing Wikipedia on this IP; I haven't had a chance to talk to my school's IT department yet, so I cannot identify the vandals. I hope to in the near future; and if I can't, I'm nearing my last day so it won't matter anyhow. --HubHikari 16:47, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You sicked a few test templates on some vandals, but didn't sign them (ie. User talk:Anatomyofacraka). It's customary to sign everything in talk pages, including templates. Happy patrolling, editing, and forth! -- Consumed Crustacean | Talk | 02:56, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Heyy.! its me, Ace Fighter sory bout the fault in Hoot, my bad man, im bad with grammar. So how bout we talk sometime?? u gotta show me how though. I have no idea!! Heyy, its mne again, Ace Fighter, Hows it goin?? look at my talk page. Thanks for that fix. Plus, I avoid sharing personal info, i am a fairly young editer.

Hey, whats up? hows it goin? its me again. Ace Fighter 22:24, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Don't you think you were being a little hypacritical when you corrected me on my "miss editing?" it says you've vandalized 5 times! Ace Fighter 23:59, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hahaha, no, Ace. That counter on my user page says how many times my user page has been vandalized. Which is five times. Doesn't really make me happy. But it's better than ten times. Or twenty. If you had read the counter closely, that would have been immediately apparent. But it's cool. No worries. Talk to ya later. --HubHikari 13:53, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, aha, thanks for the correcttion i thought it said, "this user has vandalized 5 times, ohh. Funny turns out it ACTUALLY said this user has been vandalized 5 times! My mistake, how do you become a patroller or something on wiki? I edit freely.

Well, to become a patroller, you can start by going here and reading up on the duties they're expected to perform; then, you can put the badge on your userpage, just like I did. --HubHikari 16:57, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

AmDrag Episode Deletions(WTF?) edit

What the hell made you decide to put speedy deletion tags on those American Dragon: Jake Long episode descriptions made by TSLcrazier? If I wrote them myself, I would've put the "hangon" tag there before they disappeared. DanTD 16:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't. The only thing I touched by TSLcrazier was the article entitled TBA. --HubHikari 14:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot! I was in the middle od editing on that page and you put that crap back in. Now you just caused me an hours work for nothing. Re your message on my talk page edit

Oop, sorry, I didn't log in last night. :-O Yeah, I think this guy may be a serial vandal and/or "SPAM artist." RfC might not work out too well because I'm not sure he'd be responsive to that; maybe we could try to open an RfC and if he doesn't follow up there, it can be discussed on WP:ANI?

Glad to see you're back! :) Srose (talk) 13:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, actually looks like he's stopped (and I think I was thinking of the wrong IPvandal; he's not serial)... I'll just watchlist OPEC and see what happens; I'd say take no action at this point. He could just give up and leave, or he'll come back and at that point a community-approved ban may be in order, as he will be a serial vandal/"exhausting the community's patience" at that point. :) Srose (talk) 13:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alex Atkind, the Cornell dog torturer edit

I noticed that you deleted the stub article I wrote for Alex Atkind, the Cornell dog torturer, as a personal attack. It was not one. Here's an article about him and his reckless, horrible animal abuse. [1]

I'm sorry, but unfortunately I do not have time to write more than a stub on this person. Zeepwner 02:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I'll see if I can make some progress. --HubHikari 02:04, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
No prob. Here's a video that shows Princess, the 11-month-old puppy Alex Atkind tortured, and the wounds she suffered at the hands of Alex H. Atkind. [ http://news10now.com/shared/video/video_pop.asp?destlist=57424 ] Zeepwner 02:07, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Even if it's not an attack page, the article as written fell under WP:CSD#A1 and WP:CSD#A7. It would need to be rewritten from scratch with notability asserted, sources cited per WP:BLP, and more context given to avoid A1. · j e r s y k o talk · 02:19, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Troy edit

Alright, let's take this guy up through channels. What's the first move to get this guy blocked? --HubHikari 12:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Which I did, some time ago :) It's just a case of continuing to revert them until an administrator gets around to dealing with it. Thanks – Qxz 12:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah, one step ahead of me, I see. I'm also going to shoot a request up to page protection, see if I can get that working. --HubHikari 12:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
There is generally no need to protect a page when only one user is vandalising – once they are blocked, they can no longer cause trouble. Requests are likely to be declined unless there is a significant recent history of vandalism from multiple users. Just to let you know – Qxz 12:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh. Whoops. My bad; I've already submitted the request. Looks like they've got some backlog over there. Wouldn't mind helping; I've got nothing to do in class today anyway :) --HubHikari 12:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Indeed there is something of a backlog – and presumably for the same reason there's a backlog at WP:AIV; no administrators around to deal with it. If you have nothing to do (though I have a feeling you should perhaps be paying attention!), stick with reverting vandalism, probably the best use of your time. Thanks for your help – Qxz 12:40, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, no, you misunderstand. Class is going to be focused today (presumably Friday, too) on completing a lab assigned on Monday, because the professor hasn't gone over how to do what he's asked in class. But I'm so smooth that I was able to get it converted and running without him talking about it to me.  :) But yes, I'll keep plugging away at the RC page. --HubHikari 12:43, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Random Question edit

I hope it's okay to ask you this, but you look like a pretty friendly guy and I am new to Wiki. You placed a speedy deletion tag on the page Adrian Johann Gracias-Flor and someone replaced your tag with the "hangon" tag. Should your tag have been replaced or should both tags be on the page? Thanks! Literacola 00:51, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Excellent question, Literacola. The answer is, both. Effectively, I said, "Hey, hold on. This page needs to be deleted." The author replied by saying, "Wait, wait...this page deserves to exist, and let me explain why." His contest of my tag does not supersede mine, it's placed right under it, to let people know the deletion is contested. And as a general note, never be afraid to ask questions! Be bold! I will attempt to give a knowledgeable answer as quickly as I possibly can. Welcome to Wikipedia, and I hope you enjoy yourself! --HubHikari 01:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I was right, you are friendly. :) Okay, as an addendum to my previous question--if I see a page with only the "hangon" tag and no "db-bio" (or similar), should I re-add the "db-bio" tag or will the admins or whatever omniscient gods who have the power here at Wiki know to review the page with only the "hangon" tag? Literacola 01:23, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
In general, if you see a lone {{hangon}} tag, you should replace the CSD tag if there is one in the history. This is mainly because removing the CSD tag also removes the page from the speedy deletion category, making it harder for admins to find pages they need to review. Another excellent question. --HubHikari 01:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Elder Scrolls Project edit

I noticed you have frequently been removing one user from the list of Elder Scrolls participants, the reason you provided being bad grammar. Fair enough, his comments are not the most grammatically correct, but do you really need to remove his name as well? I would like an explanation of your actions, if that wouldn't trouble you too much. Smomo 20:58, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry for also removing his name; I guess I just didn't think about it. Please accept my apologies, --HubHikari 01:33, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
No problem, it's an easy mistake to make. :) Smomo 10:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
=D I'm glad you understand. Hope to see you around! --HubHikari 10:09, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Page blanks edit

When the only editor of an article blanks it, that's a request for deletion, so don't revert it. Just let an admin delete it. (referring to Megz) — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 08:12, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreement edit

"Subject-verb agreement; 'Franz Ferdinand' is a singular subject"

Collective ('group') nouns can take a verb in the singular or plural depending on whether the group is considered as a single unified entity or as a collection of individuals. "Abba is a Swedish pop group." "Abba are breaking up." Often a verb is used in the plural even when the singular might be more logical. "Abba are on tour in Australia." Your rule, followed strictly, would lead to unidiomatic writing and loss of precision. Your edit was nonetheless correct. Please do not reply to this message. Life is too short. Jagdfeld 17:37, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Will you please stop putting "IS" for British bands? We are not all American users! How dare you presume that the British version of grammar is incorrect! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.35.148.220 (talk) 20:12, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Subject-verb agreement is universal. Despite what Jagdfeld would want me to believe, a band is a single entity, and thus gets a singular verb. Thank you. --HubHikari 21:53, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Using Technology in Education edit

Please note that I have removed the speedy delete tag you placed on this article as "Reasons derived from Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not" are non-criteria for speedy deletion. Regards, Guest9999 (talk) 16:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually I redirected the article to an existing article on the same topic. You're right that the article as it was did not belong on Wikipedia but the criteria and non-criteria for speedy deletion are laid out quite specifically and sometimes straying away from them can lead to more trouble than it's worth. I hope no offence was caused, happy editing, Guest9999 (talk) 16:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Administrative assistance needed edit

{{helpme}}

In order to seal off a privacy leak that I am in the middle of, I need to request that an administrator destroy the Special subpage of my user page. --HubHikari (talk) 06:48, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, that can't be done. I've seen the page, and it's not grounds for oversight. However, it CAN be deleted, but then it will be visible to all admins. Place {{db-u1}} at the top of the page, and it will be deleted. fahadsadah (talk, contribs) 06:53, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

New deal for page patrollers edit

Hi HubHikari,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2018 election voter message edit

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
