AfD nomination of A&F Fragrances edit

An editor has nominated A&F Fragrances, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A&F Fragrances and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Notability of Alivan's Master Wandmakers edit

A tag has been placed on Alivan's Master Wandmakers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. – Chacor (RIP 32@VT) 14:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lead edit

You should familiarize yourself with film articles that are featured. See Wikipedia:Featured articles#Media. Click on the films and check out the leads. A brief synopsis of the film is included as part of the "basic" information that goes in the LEAD. A plot summary is an expansion on that information. If you feel there are spoilers in there, please remove them because there shouldn't be, but a synopsis is included.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is also a discussion about the order on the talk page. Please voice your opinion if you disagree.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:08, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Alivanscrest.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Alivanscrest.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:25, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:OOTP Domestic Poster.jpg.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:OOTP Domestic Poster.jpg.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a redundant (all pixels the same or scaled down) copy of Image:OOTP Domestic Poster.jpg.jpg, in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not Commons), and all inward links have been updated (CSD I1).

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on Image_talk:OOTP Domestic Poster.jpg.jpg. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

POTC character template edit

I feel the template is crappy, with hair and eye color trivial details. Fictional character template gives far more insight. Alientraveller 19:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well the Harry Potter template is a lot better than the POTC template. And with comments like those you're not going to fly far here: see WP:CIVIL. Alientraveller 20:03, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

So can you explain why the template is creating a space at the top? Alientraveller 20:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Pulseposter.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Pulseposter.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

A&F edit

If you'd like to help the A&F articles I suggest finding more 3rd-party sources. The subsidary articles are especially lacking in sources. So much so that if it doesn't change we'd be best off merging them back into the main article. Let's spend a few weeks trying to improve the sourcing and if they're still lacking then we'll deal with it. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 02:17, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Birth dates of fictional characters edit

Since characters like Lord Voldemort are fictional, one cannot say they are "born". This adds a decidedly in-universe flaw to an article. Please refrain from adding it in the first line of an article as if this were a real character. Thanks Ccrashh 13:10, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merger of Lord Voldemort and Tom Marvolo Riddle edit

It appears you have recommended here merging the two articles for Lord Voldemort and Tom Marvolo Riddle. If you want try to merge the articles again, then please start an RfC discussion yourself, and shed light on what you think has changed since the previous consensus discussion(s), and why the two articles should not therefore remain separate. If you do not intend to pursue an RfC, then please remove the tag you added, since the tag would simply reflect on the last consensus discussion, which concluded with no merger. Fair use rationale for Image:Abercrombiekid.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Abercrombiekid.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Scary Movie films series, by Angelofdeath275 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Scary Movie films series fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

It does not assert the importance or significance of the Scary Movie franchiset.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Scary Movie films series, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Lord Voldemort edit

Please note your revisions led the article to become 88 kilobytes. Alientraveller 21:35, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Frankly reverting to a decent version of the article, which already tries its best to summarize several very long books, is a lot easier than minor editing over time to ensure its GA status. Alientraveller 21:37, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
You and Alientraveller need to discuss your differing edits on the article Discussion page, and NOT in the edit summary. To use your own words: " I really hate it when some necessary edits are reverted by some Wikiuser who wants the page to continue being the way the he wants it to be. " Be aware you are doing precisely that. Please work with your fellow editos to find common ground and, failing that, get an admin or Third Opinion to weigh in on the matter.
Alientraveller has a considerable point. The article needs to be trimmed. better by someone like you who knows the material, right? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
What part of 'discuss your edits was unclear? Yelling at people in edit summaries is a sure way to get you ignored at best and blocked at worst. Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Jessicaperez.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:26, 1 October 2007 (UTC). Thanks for uploading Image:Diverse3.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Brianga 17:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:AFmodern.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:AFmodern.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Seidenstud 18:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted images edit

You keep uploading copyrighted images that belong to other people. We can't use them. It takes time and effort for other editors and admins to keep processing and deleting them. If you want add an image to an article then go take a picture of your own and contribute it to the project. You've been an editor long enough, and have had enough notices posted on your page, to have figured this out by now. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 09:29, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Abercrombie moose.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Abercrombie moose.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:07, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:RRLlogo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:RRLlogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
