US 'second rate' soccer

A judgement as to whether the US soccer leagues are 'second rate' compared to the FA Premier League could perhaps be based on the question - how much would it cost to buy the entire league, and does that approach as much as Glazer spent on Manchester United? CBS Sportsline stated recently that US MLS franchise values are said to be worth $10-$20 million. Glazer spent $1.47 billion for a 75 percent interest in Manchester United [1]. That's fine. However, you may want to reconsider making it a seperate section, since it will give the appearance of you having voted after the discussion was closed, whenever it gets closed. You might modify it so that your vote appears in the list with everyone elses, and simply add "This vote was added after the deadline, but before the debate was closed." to your comments. Relisting RFAs

Greetings, Howard. I hope this evening (or morning, or whatever) finds you well.

I'm closing out the remaining debates for the AfD of December 9th, and I notice that you've relisted at least one discussion, that of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Claudia Ellquist. Good work there, and well-spotted. You'll be an admin yet, assuming you want the Mop and Bucket.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that when you relist an article, you want to remove the AfD discussion from the old AfD logs. The easiest way I've found to do this is to simply comment it out, like so. And then leave an edit summary saying something to the effect of 'Relisting such-and-such article on December 18' or whatever. Otherwise, if you don't remove it, other folks who are closing out AfD discussions may not notice that it's been relisted, and may close it out before a consensus develops. (I did exactly this very thing with the first AFD discussion I ever closed out. Had to re-open it 10 minutes later when I figured out what was going on. That was embarassing...)

About relisted AFDs...

I know you want to generate more discussion on AFDs hence you're relisting them, but is that such a good idea. You're cluttering up the new AFD list with no less then 25 old ones daily and now the AFD list is going well over 200 AFDs a day. It's getting hard to navigate them all with the relists of old ones in addition to the new ones.Gateman1997 21:01, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

• That is the rub isn't it. I believe there is a place on AFD for "older" discussions if I'm not mistaken. AFDs don't have to be closed after 5 days, and could be put there for a while. I've noticed that most of the ones you do list are trending toward whatever the votes that preceeded the relisting were so it may be prudent in some cases to just delete them or keep them based on the few votes they have gotten. Especially the more clear cut ones like vanity articles.Gateman1997 21:53, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Brian Peppers

This page was already on AfD and there is a lengthy list of votes underway. The speedy deletions page says specifically:

 For articles that do not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, please use Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. 
 Please do not list pages here that are already listed there.

It doesn't even meet the criteria for speedy deletion. As far as I know (can't check the history), Brian Peppers votes 1, 2, and 3 were about posting of copyrighted material. Vote 4 was about a real, original article, but the AfD was based mostly on the precedent that the article was a recreation of deleted content, and many did not realize that this new article was original and the previous AfDs were because of copyvios. Brian Peppers vote 5 is where the facts are sorted out. If you have an opinion on the matter, I invite you to vote there. --Aleron235 00:21, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Verifiability

I verify facts on a google search, should I put that in the reasoning? I.E. "Google turns up X hits, therefor verifiable, Keep"? The only problem I have with that being Google seems to give you a different "hit" number depending on which page of hits you're on "G!" I have to be honest and say I dislike the "notable" criterion so do tend to g by verifiability if possible. Jcuk 17:15, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Code of honour etc.

Thanks for removing the speedy tag from Code of honour, I had no way of finding out what had previously been there with the recent changes on viewing deleted edits and figured it was better to make sure that a dicdef wasn't kept around if it had been deleted for that reason before.

On Compilations and Other Albums however, I'd stand with the speedy delete, see the afd page for a more verbose reason. - Bobet 00:28, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
