This is your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss things with them. At the end of your messages you must put your signature by signing with four ~~~~ (just as I have done) or by pressing the button in the editor bar as shown here in the picture. By the way, you don't need to sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted. Another valuable page that may provide information and assistance is User:Persian Poet Gal/"How-To" Guide to Wikipedia. My name is Buster7. If you have any questions or face any initial hurdles, feel free to contact me on my talk page and I will do what I can to assist or give you guidance and contact information. Good Luck editing!

Sampson Image

edit

Having never uploaded an Image, I may not be the best editor to assist you. Check out Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images for some general information. Note the "See also" section for other possible helpful pages. I have found that the help desk is an invaluable resource. Good luck. ```Buster Seven Talk 05:53, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

You might try this------> Wikipedia:Contact us/Photo submission. ```Buster Seven Talk 23:49, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Houston50, please take a look at your Commons talkpage and use it for communication about your image problems. --Túrelio (talk) 13:35, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

@ User:H50. It seems the problem was that you removed/replaced images instead of creating new ones. Once the preferred image is in place at Commons, it can be used in the Sampson article. ```Buster Seven Talk 14:39, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I am still having issues getting the image replaced for Ralph Sampson. I am also seeing that when you google Ralph's name and before you actually go into the wikipedia page listing him as married and his ex-wife's name, he has been divorced for more than 10 years. I don't know where this is in wikipedia to change it, it only shows up when you google it under wikipedia but not when I go into his wikipedia page. The below information is what you will see when you google his name:
  • Ralph Lee Sampson, Jr. is a retired American college and professional basketball player. A 7-foot-4 phenom, three-time College Player of the Year, and No. 1 pick in the 1983 NBA Draft, Sampson brought heavy expectations with him to the NBA. Wikipedia
  • Born: July 7, 1960 (age 51), Harrisonburg
  • Spouse: Aleize Sampson
  • Education: University of Virginia
  • Position: Center
  • Children: Ralph Sampson III
  • Appears in: North Carolina Flashback: 1982 North Carolina vs. Virginia
As for your image issue. You need to go to WP:Commons (as User Turelio instructs above) and handle it. The other Google problem is just that...a Google problem. You need to take it up with Google. They may be referencing an older page with old info because it was visited more than the new article. I dont know. But nothing you do here will fix what you complain about. As I have stated elsewhere, all future correspondence about these issues should happen here, on Wikipedia pages, not with private emails. I don't mind the emails. Its just that if you ask here, others (who may have your answer) can participate.Buster Seven Talk 13:49, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Buster7Houston50 (talk) 13:37, 31 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

To whom it may concern; I have successfully (I think) finally replaced the image {RalphSampson2010.jpg}and would like to know if possible can that image be completely removed from Wikipedia so that it doesn't show up in any further web searches, if not; I understand and am happy to finally get it replaced. I now can hopefully assist in adding other work & support to the Wikipedia Community. Houston50 (talk) 14:33, 31 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I knew you could do it. The way things get done at WP (WikiPedia) may be slightly different than what you are used to, but once you get the hang of it, things start to make sense. I don't know this for fact but the basic building block of IT procedures, etc. is to allow anyone to edit. Have fun, learn the basics, be bold and stay persistent. Play with your User page and in the sandbox. Dont forget to indent during conversations and use the edit summary. It will help you find yuor own edits when you look for them 6 months from now.
