Julie and Eric Slick

It's interesting that the Adrian Belew Trio, a band that contains one notable and two "notable" people was speedy deleted while the subject articles were not. I know this is a WP:WAX argument, but I think yours was also a WP:NOTINHERITED one. I don't see "plays in a band with a notable person" under WP:NMG (actually, point 6 seems to justify keeping the Trio instead). I realize these aren't absolute rules, but I don't think Eric and Julie satisfy the general intent of those guidelines. I'm not going to war to get these removed, but keeping Julie and Eric seems a little inconsistent. Hoof Hearted 14:12, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

I said merely that touring with Adrian Belew is a reasonable assertion of notability, which means the articles no longer meet speedy deletion criteria--feel free to take the articles to AfD, however. Different admins have different thresholds when applying CSD A7 deletions; I may have been more conservative than Naconkantari (talk · contribs). In fact, I think that admin may have overstepped, since the content of that article clearly stated "the trio toured throughout the East, South, & Western United States" and included the aforementioned notable artist. Sounds like an assertion of notability to me. Surviving AfD, however, would be a different matter & would be inclined to delete without sources. — Scientizzle 15:11, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Transparency issues

Please check WP:VPT#Transparency_issues. I have upload a version of the image you pointed out, which shows correctly on MSIE6 (please, confirm if it is correct). Rjgodoy 11:55, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Brian Wells

Sorry to bother, but the opinion you gave on whether the article on Brian Wells should be spilt kinda confused me. I'm not sure whether you were opposing the above opinion of moving the page (because that seems to match your reason for opposing) or if you were opposing the split. If you could clarify, that would be a big help. Thanks. --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 15:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

I oppose both. Clarified on the talk page. Hoof Hearted 15:36, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD: Guitar in popular culture

Hello. Since you created the article, I thought you might be interested in this AfD: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Guitar_in_popular_culture. Cheers, Doctormatt 22:42, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I thought it was fun and interesting. But I don't want to prolong the inevitable. Requested G7 speedy. Hoof Hearted 15:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

It's going to take forever

Many thanks for your how-to on refs. I shall be old and grey/gray by the time I've keyed in all those << etc bits.

Just doing Amazon[[1]] is so much easier - but it's also so much untidier looking.

I suppose I'll have to grow up. But it'll have to wait until I knocked out a few thousand words on the economic boom and democratic collapse of the former Soviet bloc – the Comecon countries – my Mon-Fri job.

Anyway thanks – must dash to catch the microwave.

Malfunction Junction

Well done on your edit to the Malfunction Junction article! I think it greatly enhanced the readability of the article. I made one tweak by pushing the table of contents to the right and letting the text flow around it with the {{TOCright}} template. Thank you for taking on the hard work of the sorting! —C.Fred (talk) 16:38, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Dulwich College references

Hello, from what I have read in Wikipedia:Citing sources, referencing should include page numbers where appropriate. I think that you are right to aim to make the reference section less 'busy' and so I will amalgamate the page numbers into single refs where this happens. Kwib 11:49, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Go-to-bed matchbox

Thank you SO much for adding the picture; no change wanted there, thanks - it's perfect as it is! And I would be grateful if you would change the page name as you suggest. I'm now struggling with how you put in verifiable references, but am rapidly losing the will to live! Part of the trouble is that I find it really difficult to read small-sized text across a huge width of page - what comes of having a huge monitor I suppose! What I must remember to do is close the window down to half the width, then it is all less tiring. Thanks for your reassurance; I suppose it'll all become clear with time! Also thanks for the help with name changing. Have requested to become 'Jenger', so will see if it happens!Jenni Jackson 15:21, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Tech Town & Ballpark Village

Hey Again,

Recently I created Tech Town and Dayton Ballpark Village for the Dayton Area on Wikipedia....and I need your help. Replaceable fair use Image:Ass_Ponys.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Ass_Ponys.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:37, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't care enough about the picture to take the time to replace it. Hoof Hearted 20:30, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Watchlist working

Hoof, Thanks for the very quick response on this problem. Of course, as soon as I stopped trying to make it work, it began working, as you timely informed me! Thanks again. DonFB 17:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the Help Me reply about the Academy Award GA nomination. I expected that there were more suggestions to be found somewhere ... moreso than just that one sentence that indicated "a laundry list of suggestions". Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro 22:18, 25 September 2007 (UTC))

possible AFD??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:New_Lebanon_Local_Schools

Any ideas? Mrs.EasterBunny 21:19, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

(Copied response from article talk page): My guess is that the original author was trying to fill in some red links and create some more articles on school districts. I believe this is a goal of the School Project or Education Project. Note that this article doesn't following the naming conventions that PedanticallySpeaking set up a while ago. I made an article at Northmont City School District, Montgomery County, Ohio, which isn't much better. But perhaps this article could use a slightly stronger lead. There are some better examples at List of school districts in Ohio. Would you want to gather some input from the WikiProject groups? What are you looking for in a school district article? Hoof Hearted 15:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Mrs. Easterbunnies Comment

I talked to them about the whole school thing. I dont see why the page is such as problem. I made it to fill in the ink and to help out the Montgomery County, Ohio page. If you look on their all the schools are all blue. Because I went through and made them. I see them only as a help to wikipedia not an ADF. MarkDonna 17:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

RE: cfb link template

I see your point, but it works either way and they both get you to the same links. Dawg1279 06:49, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:RogerUnlimited.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:RogerUnlimited.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I thought it was OK to use an album cover for a biography portrait. If not, go ahead and delete it. Hoof Hearted (talk) 14:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

2008 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2008 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of 2008 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. — Yavoh 16:01, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

My article has way more information than 2008 Horizon League Men's Basketball Tournament or 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. I don't see how an NCAA conference tournament could not be notable, but I will add some info on notability if you're that concerned about it. Hoof Hearted 16:10, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for your speedy reply to my helpme question! Much obliged. Kennedygr (talk) 16:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Merger guidelines

Apparently, User:Mr kc copied and pasted a bunch of information from the Federal Trade Commission webpage. This is not a copyright violation, because such information is public domain as a work of the U.S. government. It does, however, require cleanup.
