Last Man Standing AfD

Hi,

In deleting the "Last Man STanding Coop" page (in accordance with the consensus on its AfD), you left a message saying that you "wouldn't object to seeing this rewritten at the correct capitalization and properly referenced (hint, hint)." Though the article was not originally started by me, I'm interested in putting it back--but obviously without the flaws that were present before. Before I can do that, though, I was just wondering if you could give me a short explanation of what proper references would be. I'll look on Wikipedia for policies relating to this as well, of course, but I am renowned for missing important guidelines. :)

Threats to Block Chess Biographies

I am a delegate representing the Great State of New York in the United States Chess Federation. Bill Brock, on the other hand, has no position in the USCF. His only notability is that he attacks Sam Sloan all the time, hundreds of times in Newsgroup postings. The issue of the blacklist is not based upon suspicions or idle chatter, convesations or emails. It is in the minutes of official business of the United States Chess Federation. The blacklist was discussed and debated at the meeting of the USCF in Minnesota in May and in Phoenix in August. I do not appreciate Howcheng threatening to block me based upon a complaint by Bill Brock who is a complete nobody in the world of chess. It was also on the complaint of Bill Brock that User:Howcheng deleted the biography of Tom Dorsch who is one of the most notable and best known chess personalities in the world. If Mr. Howcheng continues to intervene is chess related matters he should first learn something about the game and the people involved in it. Sam Sloan 06:55, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

I request User:Howcheng block, ban and bar User:Billbrock. All that User:Billbrock ever does on Wikipedia is go around deleting content by User:Sam_Sloan. He did it again this morning. User User:Billbrock used to do the same thing on rec.games.chess.politics until he lost the famous Chess Politics Grudge Match in Chicago on June 26, 2005 and Sam Sloan won $1000 cash from Bill Brock. If user User:Howcheng does not block Brock and withdraw his threat to block Sloan, I shall appeal to the higher authorities to have User:Howcheng removed from being an administrator. User:Howcheng has admitted that he knows nothing abour chess. If he knows nothing about a subject, he should not be making edits concering that subject. Sam Sloan 13:56, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

If you had spent five minutes researching this question you would not be making your abasimally stupid remarks. With a little research you would have found out that Bill Brock has spent years attacking me, and I have never attacked him. If you search the newsgroup rec.games.chess.politics you will find that Bill Brock has posted 580 times on that group under his persona politikalhack@gmail.com and almost all of his postings were attacks on me. That it just one of his email addresses. It got so notorious that outside third parties put up $1000 cash (one thousand dollars) to see a grudge match between me and Brock. I traveled to Chicago to play the match and I won the $1000.

Since then, because of numerous complaints about his bad behavior, Bill Brock has stopped posting to rec.games.chess.politics . Instead, he has moved over to Wikipedia. Again, almost all of his postings here have been attacks on me. He even added my name to a list of pedafiles on Wikipedia.

Now, User:Billbrock has found an ally in User:Howcheng. User:Howcheng has become the alter ego and willing agent of Billbrock. If User:Howcheng does not cease and desist from this activity, I will appeal to the higher authorities to remove the administrator status of User:Howcheng and ultimately to block User:Howcheng from Wikipedia. User:Howcheng did not look very hard. All he had to do was look at [1] and he would have seen that twice on December 20, 2005 User:Billbrock added my name to a list of pedophiles. Also, User:Billbrock calls me "a felon, habitual liar, and child molester". He has called me the same things hundreds of times in the past, as User:Howcheng would have known if he had only spent five minutes researching this subject before deleting two of my biographies. Hi, since there was no response from User:Howcheng to your comments, I would like to make a few minor responses to your comments. Firstly, Wikipedia does not care who is a nobody in the world of chess. Secondly, threats to have a dispute arbitrated are not appreciated, and are considered Personal Attacks, which are not tolerated on Wikipedia. If you are not satisfied with the way an administrator has treated you, please feel free to request arbitration or mediation, but do not make empty threats to Administrators just to try and make them do as you tell them. It is not appreciated at all, and I would assume that Arbitrators would not remove his administrator status, nor block him from wikipedia, based on what I would consider a petty edit war, in which he is trying to mediate. Furthermore, it is not up to you to determine who is permitted to make edits regarding what subjects on Wikipedia. You are not in charge in any capacity on Wikipedia, and you should respect that. The behaviour of User:Bill Brock is another issue, however I suggest you change your tone and Assume good faith on User:Howcheng's part, and politely request that he look into User:Bill Brock's contributions. I created the link from Piccadilly 1152 to The Salford Jets because the presenter or broadcaster Named "Mike Sweeney" was not linked to the the true Mike Sweeney of Piccadilly Radio, the name was linked to an American sports man with the same name. Since I spent 20 minutes going through tagging the orphan images that various Wikipedians had scanned of their genitals, which weren't linked in any way, I'm curious why you're now marking them all now as not Speedy-candidates, which they are. There is no need for an AFD, WP:WWIN makes it very clear that images not uploaded for the purposes of illustrating an article are simply not welcome on WP. Thus, speedy. Cheers for the clarification. I disagree with the policy.. but thats life. I see it becoming a problem if the content of wikipedia is ever moved to a more advanced wiki system, say one that provides a 'did you mean' functionality a la Google. If we are already cluttered with redirects for similar spellings, such a feature would not work as intended; it would generate a vast list of each spelling permutation present in the wiki. While I'm on the topic, is there any effort ongoing to create a future wiki system with enhanced functionaility? Is it likely that wikipedia will be moved to a different wiki system (e.g. MoinMoin etc.)? Rob cowie 18:14, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

List of Ukrainians

Hi, thanks for unprotecting. As soon as it was unprotected and changed back to my last version, the user changed it right back to his older version. I have made attempts to discuss it with him in the TALK page but all I get are negative comments about how I added two people of the same name to the list once (as if this is somehow showing that his outdated version isn't outdated). The names he has disputed with me in the edit war are restored in my version under the section "Foreign Nationals born on Current Ukrainian soil" yet he continues to ignore making any compromise and just reverts as much as he can (though usually once per day so he will not be blamed for 3RR - which he has reported me for many times). You can check my attempts at finding a consensus in the TALK page but I'm often ignored - especially during page locks. If you do not believe my version is more updated, you can check here: [2] to show you all the names that are being deleted without reason and all the misspellings and such that are being restored. removal of Sean Sinjin

Can we please remove all November 14th, 2005 history pages for the article 'Sean Sinjin'? They expose the author and because of the politically sensitive nature of the author's work (go to http://www.BetterHuman.org to understand why it is so sensitive), it is quite likely the author and family will be unduly exposed to very dangerous extremist religous reprisal. The information contained on those history pages are not public knowledge and was unfortunately posted by some misguided individual with the ill-intent of passively harming the author. I'm sure you wouldn't want your personal details published on the Internet, so I am asking the same privacy consideration from you, especially in light that the 'articles for deletion' vote indicated a 'majority' to delete for the reason stated above.

Given that he is an avowed atheist who's writing these books, I'm sure he's already getting threats from religious extremists. The contact information is freely available on the IST Corporate web site, and the name "Sean St. John" is listed on Amazon UK as the publisher, so there's no real private information here. The only that's close is the mention of the Palm Beach County Mensa, but considering that IST is located in Jupiter, Florida, that's easily deduced. In addition, there's nothing libelous. This article is a mechanical copy of the article I created under the name Burger Ranch, without copying the edit history. Problems:

1. There is no use in having this article twice.
2. Renames of articles should first be discussed and done through the official paths.

Sorry, its 1:30 a.m. over here so I'm little cranky. We're having a problem with SPUI removing the {{routeboxint}} from these pages. We've tried discussions on the talk page and a Mediation Cabal, which suggests that we leave the routebox in the page. Perhaps you would care to unlock the 5 articles you edited and then locked nearly 2 weeks ago. Or are you planning on keeping them locked forever in a further defiance of policy. Admins are not above policy and I have no idea why you insist on keepiong these articles locked for so long. The editorial dispute got sorted ages ago. User_talk:Zapatancas#Peace treaty proposal. 11 days would seem excessive protection given other editors might want to edit it. I don't right now so I wasn't asking for help for me but to uphold wikipedia's free editing policy for all those potential editors who deserve the freedom to edit these articles. Dear Howcheng, less than a month ago, there was a decisive Keep vote (16 Keeps to 1 Delete) for the Afshar experiment article. Now another ill-wisher has initiated a ridiculous 2nd bid. Just checking if you feel like you're taking one at DRV, and to tell you "chin up" and all if you were. I'd have deleted the articles if I were an admin and I closed them, but I think that we should be encouraging people to use their brains on closes.

So this is actually a quasi "good job". Just because I disagree with the outcome doesn't mean I think you should be taking quite the hammering you're taking! Next time, more prose all around, and please for the love of pete don't start counting votes!

Yeah, I'm back... Sort of. Thanks for the kind words. 12.166.53.130 is me, and so are bunch of IPs which start with "71.250". I guess I just couldn't stand seeing the quality US soccer/MLS articles going down in my self-exposed exhile... (None of it your fault, as I see you are doing a fantastic job.) Which doesn't mean I'm back in full force as before, just a few things here and there. Especially List of foreign MLS players and Category:Soccer players in the United States by club. George Madeira rewrite...

Any problems if I rewrite the George Maderia article? My father has been doing research on Mr. Maderia for the past few years and has accumulated substantial research. I expect the length would substantially increase.

Also, is it kosher to put in off-line references for most footnotes? Most of the source material is G. Maderia's unscanned ancient newspaper articles under various pseudonyms.

Re:Cambridge University Labour Club

I'd speedied the article after an editor complained about the AfD nom and then speedying of Hull University Labour Club as nn-club. Since neither he nor I could figure out the difference in notability between the two, I speedied Cambridge's and am in the process of AfDing Oxford's Labour club. They seem just about as notable as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's College Democrats, in that they're not notable at all. -- Thesquire (talk - contribs) 20:08, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
