Trenton Titans edit

Thank you for your interest in editing the Trenton Titans article. I have reverted these edits (here, here, and here) for the following reasons:

  • The first edit added a large amount of material to the lead section that essentially duplicated a good chunk of the history section. While it is appropriate to briefly summarize material in the article in the lead, this was a bit too much detail.
  • The first and second edits also added incorrect information regarding the franchise rights. The Trenton Devils franchise was surrendered to the league, at which point it ceased to exist as a franchise. A new franchise application was approved for the team that became the Titans. The ECHL press release stated

"The ECHL announced on Thursday that the Board of Governors has unanimously approved a new Membership application of the Trenton Titans for admission to the ECHL....The team replaces the Trenton Devils, who ceased operations in early July and turned in their Membership."[1] (emphasis added)

  • Therefore, the new Trenton Titans are a new franchise (not a continuation of the Devils) who retained the original Trenton Titans identity.
  • The final edit inserted repetitive information, as the article already states

"The team will take over the Trenton Devils' place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division and will play according to the Devils' original schedule for the 2011–12 season."[1]

Again, I thank you for your interest and I hope that this does not discourage you from editing. WikiProject Ice Hockey is a great asset for editors interested in editing ice hockey-related articles, as many experienced editors are members and are good about giving feedback. Additionally, if you have any questions or need some help, please feel free to contact me on my talk page and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. Good luck and happy editing!  Cjmclark (Contact) 19:40, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Separate article for Trenton edit

This is an issue that is being discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey. The current consensus is to keep one article until it can be established whether or not the new Titans franchise intends to continue the original Titans' identity (their records and such, not just the logo and colors). I don't necessarily disagree with you about splitting the articles, especially if the new franchise isn't going to retain any of the Devils history, but we need to have a reliable source that tells us exactly what's going on and consensus to split the article, instead of just doing it on a whim.

Additionally, please read WP:OWN. None of us "own" any of these articles; your being a Titans fan doesn't qualify you any better to edit their article than my being a Stingrays fan qualifies me to better edit the Stingrays article. Any editor who edits in the best interests of Wikipedia, using verifiable information from reliable sources, is equally qualified to edit any article. I have edited multiple articles on Wikipedia, including several ECHL-related articles. My only interest is in ensuring that these articles continue to improve while remaining properly referenced with a neutral point of view (i.e., no language like "Team X dominated all other teams in their division, fiercely crushing all their opponents while having the most awesome fans in the league.").

Also, confrontational language is unnecessary. I am perfectly happy to discuss this with you in a civil fashion. Were I not, I wouldn't have provided you with the explanation that I did for reverting your edits. I pride myself on being a pretty reasonable person, and am perfectly willing to work with you on improving the Titans article. If you look at the version of the article that existed before I started editing it (here), you can see that I've done a good bit to organize, expand, and provide references for the article. I have a decent amount of experience editing Wikipedia, and would much rather put it to work cooperating to improve articles than arguing about them. Re: your message edit

No problem. I want Trenton to have a great article just as much as any other team. I'd really like to see all the ECHL teams with great articles, but if you look through them you'll see that quality varies widely from team to team. If I could work on them all I would, but I don't have a lot of time and I have to pick my "battles" so to speak. Please let me know if you need any help with the Titans article and I'll be glad to help where I can.  Cjmclark (Contact) 23:37, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Talk page signatures edit

Just a heads-up...it's easier to read your talk page posts if you put your signature (~~~~) at the end of your posts rather than at the beginning. That way it's easier to tell where your post ends and the next person's post begins. Cheers,  Cjmclark (Contact) 03:13, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm new to wikipedia and this is my first day. I figured it out how to put it at the end of the message just now.

It's cool. We were all new at one point or another. Good luck.  Cjmclark (Contact) 04:35, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Membership" redirects edit

Under WP:CSD R3 the various "ECHL membership" redirect pages that you have created are implausible as alternate search terms, as they in many cases already include the entire team name or if they do not, are general enough that they would not commonly be associated with the target article. As such, I have tagged them for speedy deletion per the following messages.  Cjmclark (Contact) 19:17, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Two users are mistaken for the same Person. edit

Hi, I am Phantoms007 and I am a new user on wikipedia. I know about the membership redirects that you did which is totally unnecessary. I understand why you did this and I don't thing that your a nut either, but the membership redirects were pointless. Currently I am being mistaking that you and I are the same user, just going by different names. So, I currently don't know what to say about this right now. I'm a Flyers and Adirondack Phantoms fan. Since your a Bears fan, I'm guessing that your a Capitals fan. Phantoms007 (talk) 06:25, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Alright then. I'm sorry about your problem. Phantoms007 (talk) 19:46, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

September 2011 edit

I haven't been on here like for a month and my account is already blocked. I made a big mistake on becoming a user on wikipedia. I've officially retired.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This person is forced to use this account which this person doesn't want to. This person was set up for sockpuppeting which caused him to create multiple accounts because he doesn't want to be labeled as a retard by Wikipedia hockey administrators and also as a stupid Hershey Bears Hockey Club fan. IP address 173.61.77.220 was used by more than one person and just by the person who formerly used the Hersheybearsfan account.}

Decline reason:

I'm having a hard time understanding your request (in part because it's in the third person), but using more than one account to edit simultaneously is a violation of our policies. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:22, 17 June 2012 (UTC))Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

His request is in reference to a block that was just made on the IP he was using to evade this block. -DJSasso (talk) 21:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
