My word, this is going to be a mammoth close.
For information, the RfC did indeed run. I instigated it to determine whether the Wikipedia community agreed with the local consensus formed on these external link.
I'd rather you didn't count me as opposing these links. I do not recall removing them (if I did, it was perhaps a procedural revert and not me expressing my view). I would prefer to remain a neutral party in this matter.
If I was closing this I would observe that behvaiour from editors on both sides of the debate has been far from ideal. In particular I find User:Ctjf83 has not helped the discussion forward one inch, and frequently personalised the issue. However he was not the only one by far.
