Speedy deletion nomination of Bernd Simon

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bernd Simon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Deletion

edit

I did delete Judy Simon; merely being a Holocaust survivor is not sufficient grounds for a person to have an article on Wikipedia. I certainly agree that what happened to her in WWII was tragic and terrible, but Wikipedia's standards for having a stand-alone article is that the person must have been discussed in detail in multiple, independent, reliable sources. That's why I chose not to delete Bernd Simon, since, while their stories are obviously similar and overlapping, there was evidence in the form of newspaper articles that others have considered Bernd to be notable. If you believe that there is more of a claim of significance for Judy than was present in the article at the time it was deleted, please let me know and, if appropriate, I can recover the article to a temporary holding space for you to work on.

One additional thing--those I chose not to delete Bernd Simon under our speedy deletion criteria, other users may still request that the article be deleted through our more robust articles for deletion process if they don't think the sources are sufficient to establish notability. Furthermore, it is likely that much of the article may be trimmed or edited; we can only include information that is verified by reliable sources, so if those details aren't covered in the referenced sources, or are otherwise inappropriate content, they may be removed. You'll want to keep working on the article by adding citations to the specific verified parts of the article, removing details that aren't directly related to why he is notable, etc. Other editors may help in this process.

If you have any questions, please post them here, and I will respond. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:54, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re your comment on Talk:Bernd Simon

Please be aware that Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, social network, or memorial site. People must meet notability requirements, which includes coverage in reliable sources. All information must also be verifiable through those sources. If you wish to publicize the Simons' achievements, you may consider posting your own web page instead. If you have any questions, you could write me on my talk page. Best, Yoninah (talk) 08:31, 26 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ethicas

edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Ethicas, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising,  . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. CityOfSilver 00:17, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
