Hello, I'm Enric Naval. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Indian campaign of Alexander the Great, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please see the difference between primary sources like Arrian and secondary sources like modern history books.

Also, you seem to be picking isolated facts from ancient sources, and narrating whole narratives that connect them. Those narratives are unsourced. Some of your statements seem to be unsourced, for example:

  • "The name of the place is 'Kadee'"
  • "in the course of fighting he (Porus's son) wounded Alexander with his own hand and struck the blow which killed his beloved horse Buccaphalus."

Other statements are conclusions that should be taken from secondary sources. For example:

  • "there isn't any mention in any account that Porus' son was killed. "
  • "By looking at the above write up by Greek writers it is sure that Alexander was willing to have treaty to be done to avoid further damage to his side. The same writers don't write in exact words wheather Alexander really won and Porus lost the war"

In one place you cite the source "Cambridge-Ancient History Pt.IV,P.40", is it the 1928 edition? That source is too old. Historiography has advanced a lot since the start of century XX, and many accounts have been corrected to fit new data discovered. Try to cite more recent sources.

Arrian and other ancient historians have gaps, omissions and biases. It's better to take the interpretations made by modern reliable sources who have studied the subject in depth and can analyze the accounts in context.

You also cite "Rogers, p.200", You need to add more details, such as title of the book, full name of author, publisher company, ISBN, page number.

Also, all the text seems to be oriented towards glorifying Porus by picking quotes, instead of making a balanced account, and narrating how each king seemed to feel about each other, according to conclusions made by modern sources. Enric Naval (talk) 11:26, 16 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
