License tagging for Image:AYRFL2.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AYRFL2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi - I'm not sure how to do messages on this site as I'm new on it! Thanks for the help - the info box looks great on Pleasure Pill. Helen

I've added some cast crew details. Coincidentally I am one of the most active members in Film on wikipedia - I am currently compiling the list of films by country to ensure even coverage!!!! Are you actually Helen the director herself? I will create the Category:Welsh films ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 00:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pleased to meet you I live only a few miles away. I'm not actually compiling the list of welsh films (there aren't really many) I mean world films like List of Italian films List of Argentine films etc but I am always glad to help out on film articles. I could improve your wikipedia entry if you like perhaps tomorrow !!! Yesterday I set up Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers with the intention of working and improving on all film biogrpahies around the world from Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese to yourself!!! You are welcome to join. Film directing is an art I would very much like to take up myself - congratulations on your achivements!! Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 00:57, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

However all of your films can be categorized as Category:Welsh films ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 00:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! This is not my forte, so I appreciate the help. By the way, I have a higher res jpeg of the same Pleasure Pill image that's better quality than the one in the box section, but I'm not sure how to upload it and show it's licensed.

If I show you how to license it correctly you can copy the example and use it for the others like you did with the info box ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 01:14, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great, I'm a bit baffled on what to put for an acceptable licence - basically the images are allowed by the production companies for all publicity purposes.

Please see Image:AYRFL2.jpg you'll see the rationale. I know posters etc are released by film companies for promortion but there are many stuck up people on wikipedia who try to chop out any image which doesn't seen "free". If you add the rationale and license it properly it will be fine and you won't keep getting message from the bot!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 01:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

PLeas don't rremove the categories though -these are very important ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 01:52, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:COI concerns

edit

Hi, I'm concerned about the conflict of interest that's inherent in editing articles about yourself and your works - you are free to view and respond to my concerns here, thanks. RJASE1 Talk 02:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Remember it is an encyclopedia - I have tried to make it less like a promotion - I think it is a legitinate article but it is always difficult if you are writing about yourself!!! All the best but try not to upload to many other verisions of your posters it will attract unwanted attention! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 02:08, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:ADO2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ADO2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

It can be very frustrating as a new editor to learn your way around the many policies and guidelines. I think the following are especially relevant to your editing so far:

  • Conflict of interest - describes guidelines for conflicts of interest.
  • WP:SPAM - covers issues of promotion and advertising.
  • WP:SOURCE - how to properly source content, and what content is allowed.
  • WP:NPOV - describes how "All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly, proportionately and without bias."

I hope you don't mind a bit of advise as well: Since you're extremely knowledgeable about the topics of the articles you've been editing and you have a clear conflict of interest with those topics, probably the easiest and most valuable way you can contribute to them would be in providing references and other information on the articles' talk pages, rather than directly to the articles themselves. This allows other editors to add the information in a way that fits wiki policies and guidelines, and allows you to contribute while you're still learning the policies and guidelines yourself. --Ronz 20:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest (again)

edit

Ms. Grace, I'm asking you once again to please cease editing articles related to you and your projects due to your conflict of interest. Your actions are not conducive to building an encyclopedia with a neutral point of view, and can be viewed by many as embarrassing self-promotion. Please, stop editing the articles that have already been created - if you have additional information or sources, place it on the article's talk page so that it can be included, if warranted, by a more neutral editor. Please do not create any further articles related to you or your work - instead, make a request that an article be written and provide sources showing notability per the applicable criteria. I have not edited the articles since 9 April - I have only edited / added info during a 4-hour period from 8th-9th April and not been online since - so am concerned that someone else may have done so on my log in. And of course therefore feel that your comment is unfair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helengracedirector (talkcontribs) 14 April, 2007.

I apologize for the misunderstanding, this was my mistake. RJASE1 Talk 14:36, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Helengracedirector! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 903 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

File:PPill10.jpg missing description details

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 10:26, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:PPill10.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:PPill10.jpg, which you've attributed to Sgrin Media Agency. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:01, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of A Day Out

edit

The article A Day Out has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I have searched (see talk page) but found nothing to suggest that this 9-minute short film comes anywhere near the notability standard of WP:NFILM.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
