Welcome to Wikipedia, HeleneSylvie! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

watch out for copy-and-paste

Hi. I just rewrote Myla Goldberg and Jason Little (cartoonist), because they were copied verbatim from other websites - the Goldberg article was mostly from her standard bio that appears all over the place, and the Little one was from Lambiek.net.

This is usually a bad idea for two reasons. First, unless there's specific evidence that we have permission from whoever wrote it, it's a copyright violation (and remember that we're not just using their words on one page of ours; we give everyone else permission to use Wikipedia text, and it gets copied all over the place, so we have to be sure it's ours to give).

Second, even if we had permission, promotional text and mini-bios from elsewhere generally don't fit the Wikipedia style. For instance, neither of those articles even had an introduction saying what this person does and why we have an article about them! (See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies).) They also included all kinds of trivia, such as the nickname of Goldberg's bandmate, that makes us look more like a fan site than an encyclopedia. Whenever I see an article in this style, I always suspect that it's a direct copy, and it always is.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jason Little.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
