Yes, there definitely has been. See my essay on RFB trends for my view on this. bibliomaniac15 23:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Improvement

Hi! Would you consider adding [1] to the edit count tools in your cactions tool? Have a look at the site, frighteningly thorough and non-toolserver reliant. In fact, it could possibly be useful under Page Options too, it has detailed analysis of user contributions to each article. Eg.: Analysis of all your edits, Analysis of the article 'Prague'. Cheers. +Hexagon1 (t) 16:42, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

No worries - anything I can do to contribute to improving the tool, since I am now completely reliant on it for anything I do on Wikipedia. You got me hooked. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:46, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

popup translations done in end999's monobook.js

Hi Haz,

If you remember that message I left on Lupin's page about popup translations using Google translate.

Well, I got it to work on my monobook.js file. I do ajax calls to Google translate api and effect popup translations in 23 languages, much like the Google toolbar translation feature.

I have some instructions on it on my Endo999 talk page.

I also sent you an email, but you didn't reply to it.

I always thought, like you, that only the source URL could receive AJAX calls from a web page, but it must be the source URL of the javascript file you include into the webpage, for a Wikipedia webpage can indeed do AJAX calls with Google translate.

Bug in cactions v4

Not sure whats up. It's trying to hide tabs in v4. I noticed it this morning, and it traces back to the cactions.js script, that was updated yesterday. Browser setup - opera 9.6, standard WP interface. Not sure what's changed. Swictehd back to old version off the deleted edits for now. Let me know when it's figured out and I'll switch back to v4 :) FT2 (Talk | email) 12:42, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cactions bug

I am not positive about this, but it seems that Cactions breaks with pages that have '&' in the title (the specific example frustrating me being one J. Barbour & Sons); doing a 'watch' action via the page dialogue will result in one watching J. Barbour and not the actual article, likewise history. --Gwern (contribs) 01:57 24 October 2008 (GMT)

Re: Cactions tool

Thanks. Everything seems to be working fine so far. I'm going to try to get more involved again, but a lot has changed around here since I stopped editing nearly two years ago. I have a lot to catch up on. --TantalumTelluride 17:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wolfgang Chr. Fischer

Why was this page, which I created in relation to my grandfathers Heinrich August Trinowitz and Robert Fischer, who are with a page in the German section? At least there could be some hints to improve this contribution, but not just A7. Otherwise, please delete the page and forget my contribution! Wikimania Oxford bid

Some time ago you indicated your support of the Oxford 2010 Wikimania Bid, and it was recieved with much gratitude. I now ask if you could could help support our bid by contributing to the bid page that is located at: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2010/Bids/Oxford. Now is the critical period for work to continue on the bid as the official bidding period has now started and the jury has been formed.

I do not ask for huge swathes of time, just enough that with eveyrone working on this, it can be completed in time to the high standard required in a bid. For the bid page, an excellent source of information is the travel wiki article on the City of Oxford which is found at: http://wikitravel.org/en/Oxford. The chance of bringing Wikimania to the UK is the best so far and i expect the best chance for many years. With a fresh and stong UK chapter we have an amazing opportunity to put ourselves on the map. If you have any questions, please mail them to the Wikimedia UK mailing list, email me or post a message on my talk page and i will answer as quickly as possible.

I look forward to working with you on the bid page. Many Thanks. Seddσn talk 15:13, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gadget:Drop-down menus (Caction tool)

Hello... thanks for the reminder. I have added your script to the "Gadgets" interface. I've taken the liberty of renaming it for clarity; the script is located at MediaWiki:Gadget-Drop-down menus.js, and the description can be found at MediaWiki:Gadget-Drop-down menus. Please incorporate any updates into that location. Thanks again for developing this; I have found it to be most useful. Cheers! --Ckatzchatspy 19:11, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hey Haza-w I've put itabs to false on my js but 'User contributions' in the toolbox is still taken away. -- Mentifisto 11:52, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've got another idea for your tool... can you make a variable RfA link to the respective user? Could even be a smart menu that displays whether a user has got an RfA archived whenever the page is accessed (like user -> userspace). -- Mentifisto 16:27, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

drop-down menus problem

i like the concept very much, but the result is unusable on my system (linux ubuntu, various web browsers, all gecko-based). the drop down menus are far too twitchy. they don't stay up long enough to be usable. it was very frustrating, i tried everything i could think of to fix it, no luck.

i'm not a coder, just a writer :P

the menus should default stay in place longer, or allow control of the timing in options, or make them click-lock, or anything that works, please! :)

summary: it's a good idea, but the menus need to stay in place longer. maybe make them scrollable/arrow key+return usable too.

thank-you for creating the app in the first place, & for your time @ attention in reading this.

regards,

MUCH BETTER! Thank-You :)

now all we need is a tool to synch-up these talk page conversations; i never know whether to respond on my page, or the other user's. something like facebook wall-to-wall would really help. lol

thanks again for creating such a cool app.

FOLLOW-UP

one thing i've noticed: every time i click to watch a page, using the app, it always takes me to a new page, to inform me that the previous page is being watched, instead of just putting a notice @ the top of the page i was on. that's kind of annoying; is there any way to change that, or set it? i'd prefer staying on the page, rather than being diverted. (yes, i know; there's always something to complain about... lol)

Wikimania 2010 Oxford bid

Thank you for supporting the Oxford bid to hold Wikimania 2010! We're currently in the final stages of the bid process - the jury will be announcing their decision by the 16th April. We're currently putting together the local team for the bid (who will do what if the bid wins); if you're able to be on the local team, please put your name in the appropriate place on m:Wikimania 2010/Bids/Oxford/Team. We'd also welcome anything you can do to help refine the bid in these last few days. If you have any questions, please let me or User:Seddon know. Thanks. user and page gadget

Hi. I just hooked-up your gadget and like it; thanks. I've noticed a nit that needs fixing. It seems that for users with a space in their user name, the invocation of the soxred93 edit summary tool needs a change to encode the space as a '+' instead of a '_'. See;

  • _ vs. + for me

Cheers, Jack Merridew 10:15, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

By Jove, you're right... thanks for the spot. I've applied the fix, and am currently waiting for the cabal to update the gadget file. By the time you read this, I imagine that a quick Ctrl-F5 should do the trick. Thanks again for bringing it up, and I hope that you continue to enjoy the tool. haz (talk) 21:32, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll certainly continue to use it; it's convenient. I will likely do the custom install soon, as I'd like to have some of the usual versions, too. I'll give it a while to get a feel for which ones I really want. Cheers, Jack Merridew 08:20, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

only interested in one site

I'm only interested in editing one site -- the one about me. I have successfully made some small changes -- corrected year of birth, corrected some errors in a list of movies I'm in, and corrected grammar in a news bit about a recent show I did. But I'd like to add a picture to the entry on me and am not allowed to do so. Someone else must do it. How do I go about adding a picture? I can't follow all the goobledegook on the help pages -- I find it incomprehensible. There is no clear statement of where to send the picture to be evaluated or added -- to whom is it sent?

Hello, Haza-w! Just providing some feedback on this gadget. I prefer to retain the "history" and "watch/unwatch" as separate tabs rather than included in the drop-down menu. Otherwise, cool gadget. Rgrds. --Tombstone (talk) 05:36, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
