I reverted your comment, since the page should not have been modified. But I don't understand why you're "not currently in a position to take this to deletion review". Why not? StAnselm (talk) 17:41, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm currently very busy IRL. And I left that comment in the space specifically listed to "Reply" to the close. So please unrevert it. Kevin Hallward's Ghost (Let's talk) 21:37, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
You make a good point regarding that "reply" button. I don't think it should be there on closed pages. But I will need to ask it somewhere. I think I will do this at WP:AN, but I don't need to mention you. StAnselm (talk) 02:30, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The reply I got at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Help needed: replying to closed discussion leads me to decline your unrevert request. StAnselm (talk) 14:21, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I replied briefly there. This seems like an easy issue to fix by removing the big blue "REPLY" button from the extremely controversial close, but whatever. Hopefully someone with more time will challenge that ludicrous close. Administrators should not simply substitute their own policy views for the overwhelming community consensus on an issue. That's not what NOTAVOTE was ever intended to be used for. It was intended for close calls where one side technically "won" if it were just a "vote" count, not for when the community's consensus was clear and overwhelming. But my long experience of administrator actions doesn't leave me optimistic about (A) this particular issue, and (B) the long term health of this project.
