Speedy deletion of Cold Saw Blade
editA tag has been placed on Cold Saw Blade, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Hi, Haassaw. The explanation on Talk:Cold Saw Blade was the best step to take--I originally cited it for speedy because the article did not make clear that CSBs were industry wide, rather than belonging to one particular company. Thanks for making that clear. Justin Eiler (talk) 02:03, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TCT Cold Saw Blade.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:TCT Cold Saw Blade.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 01:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
I will upload another version of the image without the watermark. This was a photograph taken by me.--Haassaw (talk) 01:32, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Please do not revert the article cold saw just because it has been modified. You'll note that all of the information that was there is still there, with just some of the overlinking removed per WP:OVERLINK. Note, however, that almost all of the original text is a copyright violation of the website http://www.coldsawstore.com/ (see [1] & [2]). As such it may be deleted outright. Also note that the original references were all deleted as the links did not contain direct evidence supporting the footnoted text. Instead they appeared to be advertisements for various companies. See WP:EL and WP:CITE for more info on proper links and citations. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks! Wizard191 (talk) 23:02, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
FYI Conflict of interest guideline
editIf you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia in the articles Cold saw and Cold saw blade, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. — Athaenara ✉ 23:23, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
How could this article meet the requirements of Wikipedia with reference to copyright and conflict of interest parameters for more than 18 months and then all of a sudden, not meet those requirements? As I explained before, the photographs that I uploaded belonged to me and had been released to the public domain as required by Wikipedia. The original text could not possibly by copyright infringement from ColdsawStore.com since I own this website and had also released it under the terms of the GFDL. At the very least, credit should be given to me as the author of the text in the form of a footnote. Anyway, the original article "Cold saw blade" looked great for more than 1-1/2 years. It's a real pity that you have chosen to edit this page in this way. Especially since you don't know anything about the actual topic. This is really unfortunate! FYI - The portable saw in the pictures you are using is not a cold saw.Haassaw (talk) 16:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Haassaw
- The problem is not that the article was not a copyvio and COI for X period of time and then suddenly was. It has always been a copyvio and CIO, its just that it went un-noticed for that long. Wikipedia is maintained by volunteers who chose what they contribute to, therefore if no one wants to contribute to a certain article for a long time things like this can happen.
- As for the image, you can still donate it to wikipedia, but you must go through one extra step as outlined at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- The text is still a copyvio because ?your? website does not release its text under a GFDL license. As a matter of fact, a quick search of the website for the term "GFDL" does not return any results [3]. The website coldsawstore.com is also a poor source to cite encyclopedic information from; see WP:V & WP:SPS. Also, see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles for why this really isn't unfortunate. --Wizard191 (talk) 17:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
