Lactose intolerance revert

edit

Hi - left a note on IBS discussion section the lactose intolerance revert. I am not out to get you, really. I even researched a secondary source for lactose intolerance in IBS patients from the Italian journal, and inserted it in the Misdiagnosis area for you. The revert was based on WP:MEDMOS style guidelines for medical articles (click on the bold type to read whole document - see section on giving medical advice at the end of Careful language). Also, references for medical articles should generally be secondary sources (peer-reviewed articles) - click on WP:MEDRS.

On a personal note, we're finishing up a research project on patients who have chronic diarrhea with an unknown cause. People don't take chronic diarrhea seriously. Some of these people have fantastic insurance, but they've been sick for years, and have never seen a doctor. Many self-diagosed with food allergies, including families with multiple members who are sick, and are on well water. Giardia produces mild symptoms in some people, including carbohydrate (potentially lactose) intolerance. Some of the herbal cures reduce the symptoms below the threshold of pain. But they would have been better off seeing a doctor. It's a community problem too, as their kids are in daycare, and when the younger ones are toilet training, they are great vectors. BTW, it would be great to have some journal references on things mis-diagnosed as IBS for the mis-diagnosis section. Lactose intolerance, celiac disease, cancer, infectious diseases. Gastro guy 23:17, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
