Hi Green Platypus, Sorry it took me so long to answer. I have been trying to get the newspaper to give me something aknowledging they used a Wikipedia image, I asked them to render something personally or if not to put a small aknowledgement on the online edition. Up to know, they don't even answer my mails and they removed the online image. I am still waiting and I talked to mr. Sonbol himself and he is trying to get them put back the image with the aknowledgement. Meanwhile I posted what happened in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions#Use_by_a_newspaper_of_an_image_I_uploaded_in_Wikipedia to see if I could get some advice on what to do.

So far people seem to agree the image should be credited to wikipedia (that is what I asked) by the newspaper, and that maybe I shoudl contact a lawyer. May I ask how you saw the image in AL-Ahram? (just curious) Thanks and sorry again for not answering sooner, --Welle 1 (talk) 21:58, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem. I studied Arabic in Cairo 2 years back. Got acquainted with Al-Ahram papers and still visit the online Weekly.
