If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. TNXMan 14:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Can you assure us that under this new name (which you would be allowed to use as it is probably your real name (and I'm obviously one of the last admins who'd deny you that right)) you won't create the article on your firm again or edit anything connected to it? Greetings. I'm not an administrator, but I took the liberty of properly formatting your unblock request so that an admin would see it.

I've also looked at what you've created at User:Glynnssolicitors/Glynns Solicitors, and I should offer the advice that if this page were to be created in main article space it would almost certainly be eligible for speedy deletion, if not as advertising, then simply because there is no evidence there to show that the firm is notable enough to merit an article here. Notability would have to be established by verifiable references to reliable sources that are independent of the firm itself--newspapaer and magazine articles, for instance. And all of this leaves aside your obvious conflict of interest.

Remember, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising medium or a free web host. You are certainly welcome to make contributions here in your areas of interest and/or expertise (under a new username), but I recommend not creating an article on your firm, and definitely do not add mention of your firm in other articles. Please read the links to policies and procedures I have provided above, and if you have further questions do not hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Take care. --Finngall talk 16:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Glynnssolicitors/Glynns Solicitors, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages: user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for businesses.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page in question and leave a note on this page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 13:03, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
