The "heroes who have had coast guard vessels named after them" are obviously not BLPs... Fram (talk) 07:04, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some other articles like Azhar al-Dulaimi as well. Fram (talk) 07:06, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

In reverse order -- as someone who is no longer living Azhar al-Dulaimi is not covered by WP:BLP, so it may have been an oversight a mistake to list him here. More generally should I assume you disagree that he is notable?
At least four of the heroes I listed either died while on duty or passed away due to age, so technically, I shouldn't have listed them with BLPs. Again, should I assume your objection to those articles is that you do not consider the individuals sufficiently notable to merit standalone articles? Geo Swan (talk) 00:49, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
No, where do you get that? I object to you making list to show the number of BLPS you created vs. the number of potentially problematic BLPs you created, but including seven or more non-BLPs in that list. This gives the impression of having created many non-problematic ones, when the actual number is a lot lower. I have made no statement or even indication of the notability of these non-BLPs. The page is "BLPs started...", not "Biographies of notable people started...", so my objection rests solely on the incorrect inclusion of these articles in this list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fram (talkcontribs) 06:55, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
So that was your meaning?
Including them was a mistake -- but a tiny and forgiveable one I believe. Geo Swan (talk) 11:16, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Any reason why you have removed four of the five "heroes", but not Robert J. Yered, died 1940? Perhaps best to check them all if you want the list to be correct, e.g. Andrea Amati died in 1577 so is also "technically" not a BLP. Fram (talk) 11:35, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Conflation of biographical articles with BLP is a mistake busy good faith contributors make all the the time.
I hope you are not suggesting this innocent and trivial mistake is a justification for a topic-ban or sanctions.
You say Yered died in 1940? Then isn't it odd he won a Silver Star for his service in the War in Vietnam thirty years later? See? People make innocent mistakes all the time. Geo Swan (talk) 16:13, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
The infobox states that he died in 1940... It's an innocent mistake, but it's yours. And a 2009 death still means that this isn't a BLP of course. As for "I hope that you are not suggesting", no, I haven't been suggesting that at all. All I said was that claiming that there isn't a reason for a BLP topic ban, because you have sooo many unproblematic BLPs, but then including at least 7 non-BLPs in that list, is not really the correct way to construct your arguments and boost your case. Fram continued to assert I should be topic-banned from BLPs

edit

I started User:Geo Swan/BLPs started 2011-02 to 2012-08 when Fram called for me to be topic-banned from BLPs in 2012. I think I demonstrated, there, that this topic-ban wasn't necessary.

Yet Fram wrote, in June 2018, Geo Swan should have been banned from BLPs years and years ago.

He won't let this go. I won't try to be a mind-reader, and guess at why he won't let it go.

I think his 2002 nit-picking over whether all of the five dozen articles I listed as BLPs were merely biographical articles, and not BLPs, appeared to show a willingness to lapse from WP:BATTLEGROUND.

Its 2019. I think I have started something like 300 BLP, since 2011-02. A few were deleted, Amy Chang comes to mind. I think the fact that she was interviewed on CBC Power and Politics, and in prominent newspapers, was called to meet with Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, barely escaped incarceration, by China, when her parents were captured, all contributed to her notability. The AFD disagreed. But I don't accept the deletion supports a call for a topic-ban. Geo Swan (talk) 22:12, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Are you seriously dragging up comments from 2012????? Please, for the sake of all that's precious and holy, give this a rest. KillerChihuahua 12:23, 1 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
