Topic Choice

edit

Hey Group 8! I was thinking we should pick a topic that is a concept rather than a person, what do you think?Emily.minnick (talk) 17:12, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

That's what I was thinking too. Emily and I were talking and we think one of our topics could be the POMS (profile of mood states) because it would be pretty interesting to do research on and for the reader. Thoughts about POMS? and we need one more topic!Genna Joyce (talk) 17:21, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Hey all,

I was thinking that we could have shock therapy as our main choice for a topic. Any other ideas for a topic or a secondary? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samantha.meyer (talkcontribs) 17:32, 14 September 2016 (UTC) Hi Sammi,Reply

Well Genna just suggested POMS (profile of mood states). Seems like it could also be an interesting topic. But I think shock therapy would be interesting to write about too! I looked on PsycInfo and found some review articles on both topics so I think either would be good choices.Emily.minnick (talk) 17:45, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oh that's my bad, I didn't post on this page.. I posted on a different page. Still trying to figure this out. So if we all agree, our two choices can be shock therapy as our number one choice and for our number two choice, POMS. Unless anybody has an issue with it. Hey all, I like the idea of shock therapy being our first choice for a topic. I think it can be rather interesting and informative to research. Looking at the current Wikipedia page, it seems like there isn't much information at all so it will be a fun assignment to research and report on. I was quickly researching some websites/articles for our topic and just thought I could leave them here for everyone to see. I haven't fully gone over them so I am not 100% sure that they are completely reliable for the project. 1. http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/ect 2. http://web.a.ebscohost.com.ezproxy.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/ehost/detail/detail?vid=3&sid=0ed02b70-bd0b-4341-bc05-fb06fa5b1f64%40sessionmgr4010&hid=4104&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZSZzY29wZT1zaXRl#AN=2013-38896-021&db=psyh Ajlobeck (talk) 17:44, 15 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

So just to finalize our two topics, our first choice is going to be shock therapy and our backup plan will be POMS. Ajlobeck (talk) 16:01, 16 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Awesome, yeah I'm just trying to narrow down a little bit on what our article will consist of; history of shock therapy, controversies, treatments, or a little of everything? The NDSU library website has good journals that you can get to if you go and put your cursor over the "databases" and click on the "Academic Search Premier (EBSCO)" then you can type in the filters such as "Shock Therapy" click on 'in title' and see what pops up. If there's a plethora of journals, you can filter your search further. I think this is a reliable search engine we can use for our project, it'll just take some studying and research to find articles with the information we decide on later on in the project.Genna Joyce (talk) 18:53, 16 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
