Susan Fennell edit

I have again reverted your change on Susan Fennell. First off, I disagree that it deserves its own section. It is a political issue, and belongs in the politics section. To give it its own section while other issues do not get their own section gives it undue weight. In addition, your claim that "Susan was a champion for the cause while on Peel Region Council to push to embrace the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community of Peel and offer municipal programs and support at Peel Region" is not supported by the link you provided. The link proved shows that such programs exist, but that is no proof that Ms. Fennell contributed to them, or especially that she was "a champion for the cause". I have worked hard to reference the claims on this article, and will defend it from unsourced additions. If you can find a reliable source that says what you want, you may re-add it, although I still will insist that it belongs in the politics section.  OzLawyer / talk  12:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gay2day, we have rules on Wikipedia about content for a reason. Please read WP:V and WP:CITE before you attempt to re-add unverifiable information to an article again. Further disregard for for these policies may result in action being taken against you. Action which I'm loath to have to recommend, since you are clearly attempting to improve the encyclopedia.  OzLawyer / talk  14:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fine then and I want to play by the rules. My interest is in having a separate section dealing with Gay Rights to highlight Susan's great help to our community. Gay rights have been denied for much too long and as you can see from the Peel Regional services they are important and distinct. People of alternative orientation should not be persecuted and need to be welcome and celebrated. Politicians such as Susan Fennel are few and far between as far as our communuty is concerned and now that we have one of our own elected it serves as a focal point of community admiration and respect for her accomplishments over all obstacles. How do we go about resolving this dispute on whether or not the section can have a separate section? For now I am rewording the section again and reapplying the section. Your view is not more important than my view on this. So I would appreciate you leave my format and seek community involvement to change it to your way. Thanks.

You say you want to play by the rules, but then you don't. I stated quite clearly that your recent addition is in violation of WP:V and WP:CITE; that is, it is not verifiable, and it is not sourced. Yet, you've re-added it. It may very well be true that Susan Fennell did a whole lot on Regional Council to promote gay rights in the Region. However, the inclusion of a link to the Region of Peel showing support for the gay community in Peel does not give evidence for this point. If you want to include such a statement, you will have to show just how she did, in fact, fight for these rights in Regional Council. Minutes of meetings, perhaps? Or a link to an article in the Brampton Guardian or Mississauga News that says so would be great. Until such sources can be found, statements like the one you are trying to add cannot be verified, and if they cannot be verified, we can't include them in the encyclopedia. I encourage you to research your additions well before trying to add them to Wikipedia. It will result in far fewer conflicts with other users, users who know that we do have to follow rules here to continue to keep this encyclopedia great. I urge you to revert your own edits as an act of good will, and leave them reverted until you've found reliable sources, at which point you can add them back.  OzLawyer / talk  17:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I made the changes based on your comments. I hope you agree with them now.

But now it doesn't belong in the article about Susan Fennell, because the comments are now not about Susan Fennell--they're about Peel Region, and you've already included them in that article. Let's be rational here. You have the facts about Peel Region's policies and programs in the Peel Region article, and in the Susan Fennell article you should just have the facts about Susan Fennell.  OzLawyer / talk  19:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes please delete it. I was trying to start an article on politician that are members of my community and did not have a clear idea in my head on how to go about starting one. Is there a Gay Politicians in Canada Article somewhere on Wiki where I can add to contribute. Many thanks. Gay2!

In regards to the above question... edit

...as for your question edit

First, a quick tip: leaving a question on your own talk page is a surefire way to have that question never answered, simply because users like Diez2 (talk · contribs) (to whom you were asking the question I think) will rarely come back to your talk page and see it. A better solution is to leave a message on his talk page User talk:Diez2. As for info on canadian gay politicians, I have no idea where to find it or whether or not it exists at all, but I'm sure the right place to look and ask is the LGBT portal. Cheers and happy editing.
