"Non-notable website" means that your website does not appear to meet our standards for articles about websites. In general, Wikipedia is looking for articles about things that are significant, influential, well-known, etc. This is best shown with references to reliable independent sources describing the subject. Please be aware that Wikipedia is not here for promoting new projects, but for documenting things that have achieved a degree of recognition. FreplySpang 09:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

You said, "It can be debated that it is 'well-known.' It's just your opinion really. You after all, do not represent what everyone thinks." Well, no, I don't. That's why verifiability and external sources are so important on Wikipedia. Otherwise, you're right, it would just be a battle of opinions. We ask that articles about websites (and people) demonstrate the "notability" of their subjects with references to external sources. (When you create an article, the edit screen includes a prominent warning: "Articles that do not cite reliable published sources will be deleted.") That way, we can use representative opinions from outside Wikipedia to indicate what subjects are well-known, significant, etc. Also, the burden of proof is on the article - it must show that the subject is notable.

Please keep in mind that we really do discourage writing about one's own projects, because it is difficult to be objective. The general principle for this sort of thing is: when your project is successful (or you are famous), someone else will come along and write a Wikipedia article about you.
