Response edit

Shalor- Can you please check my sandbox under the "New Section". I added a cite on the last sentence. I don't know if I did that correctly and my teacher said I needed to get the okay before I move everything into the main article along with the picture. Thanks.

Hi! I wanted to respond on your talk page. When it comes to working on existing articles, you can absolutely copy the article to your sandbox. If you're only working on a specific section, you can copy that specific section. Just make sure that both pages are in edit mode. However that said, I am going to make a draft for you of the main page. You can find it at User:Galaxylover1742/Petrified wood. What I'd recommend is that you work on perhaps expanding the locations section or create a new section on something like the uses of petrified wood. A section like this would cover how it's used for things like jewelry, and art, as well as where it's sold and so on.

Now as far as citations go, what you need to do here is find more sourcing about petrified wood to add to the article and back up claims. It doesn't have to cite this article in specific. For example, the claim "Libya – Great Sand Sea – Hundreds of square miles of petrified trunks, branches and other debris mixed with Stone Age artifacts" needs sourcing, so what you would find here would be a source that backs up the claim that the Great Grand Sea in Libya has petrified wood. • Just wanted to answer on here - if the site sells jewelry then it shouldn't be used as a source. Something else to take into consideration is that a lot of sites like this don't do any true editorial oversight or give any information about who writes the content or their research process. Some of them just paraphrase or copy from Wikipedia. As such, they're typically not considered to be reliable sources. It's just good to be cautious since the majority of things that come up with an internet search like Google are not going to be reliable. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:19, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

A few more edits edit

Your addition to petrified wood needs a few adjustments. Several of the initial sentences are not specifically attributed (i.e need supporting citations). The one citation you did use is locked behind a member login. Do you have any that the average reader can see without having an account at Butte? Also, you should avoid using "weasel" words, See WP:weasel. Lastly, the link you added for the jewelry can be added directly (see how I put it in below) without the http address, and you you can make it better sized for the article by adding the |thumb| parameter. You can also read more about it at HELP:Pictures. This is meant to be constructive as it looks like you are a student. I'm just an experienced WP editor trying to help.
