Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:11, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

People's Temple edit

Bering in mind I'm summarising stuff that's present further down the page and heavily cited, how is what I wrote 'obvious nonsense'? Hadashi (talk) 10:51, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for having been so blunt, I genuinely thought it was a vandalism. To rephrase it more civilly: I don't think dancing around the word “religious” is a reasonable summary of the rest of the article at all. I did read it and saw a lot of material on Jones' beliefs and ideology but that does not change anything to the group's dynamics. The mass suicide/murder alone is enough to make it a religious phenomenon. In any case, the People's Temple is described in many sources as a “cult” so the idea that is was not religious is at most a minority view and cannot form the backbone of the article. GL (talk) 11:29, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's 0k, it happens. I'm not sure how the way it ended in a mass suicide\murder puts it down as a religious phenomenon though, some sort of secular cult maybe? I don't think it makes sense to classify them as a religion based on that. The evidence seems pretty explicit that Jones was an atheist who wanted to hijack religion to preach a radical communist ideology and destroy belief in both God and the Bible. Outwardly the People's Temple put on a front to draw people in and took a lot of care to insure that new members didn't know that he wanted to replace their belief in God. In that regard you could maybe call it a 'mystery cult', but I'm thinking that since the whole church thing was basically a front that he used to find people receptive to his ideology and atheism, labelling it a religious organisation without mentioning that it was actually just pretending is kinda misleading. Disambiguation link notification for April 17 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited European Low Fares Airline Association, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ME3 carriers. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
