I note that a new editor has come into the deltion discussion about IEEE JMI. I should point out to you the Wikipedia policy on "meatpuppetry" and ask that you not seek out support from your peers to bolster your arguments. IEEE JMI

Hi Fzhaque. I saw your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IEEE JMI, and thought that as fellow member of IEEE, I could help. I am an officer in another student branch of IEEE. The article is up for deletion because it doesn't have sources that are independent of the subject. Wikipedia requires independent sources to verify notability. Try not to take this personally, but individual branches of our organization are unlikely to be notable by Wikipedia's standards. I know my branch isn't. Hi, Jujutacular. Ok so what I gather after reading your comment is that if I am able to produce some source other than that of the IEEE JMI Official Website then Wikipedia will allow the article to remain. And then Wikipedia will consider the article a lot more notable?? I think you also know that IEEE hardly keeps an account of such things... but I will try and get something. Actually see there are other Branches also who have achieved some great feats, but its not our mistake that they havent made a wiki page about their Student Branch. We are trying to create a wiki page and we dont have any monetary or personal gains from it. It will just be for the purpose of telling people about IEEE JMI. That's it!!

I'm sorry, but both of those are from IEEE, not an independent source. This is Wikipedia's general notability guideline: If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article. Please read over that guideline page and reconsider whether you believe your branch of IEEE satisfies that criteria. Jujutacular ^T · C 22:54, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

• But the links which were given were that of R-10 and R-8 website and IEEE JMI had nothing whatsoever to do with them. R-8 is in Africa and IEEE JMI in India. So wouldn't these qualify as Secondary sources?? What you mean is that we should get a newspaper clipping or something like that

to prove notability of IEEE. And that would be a little difficult, because even in the IEEE Wiki page all the refrences and External Links that I can see is that of IEEE's own!! I guess such is life!!--Fzhaque (talk) 12:50, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

No, IEEE is the parent organization. So anything that they publish is closely related to IEEE JMI, and does not count as a secondary source. Jujutacular ^T · C 17:44, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
