ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  MER-C 11:14, 6 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Sorry about that, can I come back? I promise not to contribute in this way again. Fstop22 (talk) 04:19, 7 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This unblock request has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Read our guide to improving articles
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • If you have trouble choosing an article to improve, see this index of articles needing improvement for ideas. Once you have decided on the article you will propose improvements to:
    1. Click the Edit tab at the top of that article;
    2. Copy the portion of the prose from that article that you will be proposing changes to. However:
      • do not copy the "infobox" from the start of the article (i.e., markup like this: ...);
      • do not copy any image placement code (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the page's categories from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the stub tag (if there) from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: Foo stub);
    3. Click edit at your talk page, and paste at the bottom under a new section header (like this: == Article title ==) the copied content but do not save yet;
    4. Place your cursor in the edit summary box and paste there an edit summary in the following form which specifies the name of the article you copied from and links to it (this is required for mandatory copyright attribution): "Copied content from exact Name of Article; see that article's history for attribution."
    5. You can now save the page. However, if your edits will include citations to reliable sources (which they should), add the following template to the end of your prose: reflist-talk. Once you have added the template, click Publish changes.
  • Now, edit that content. Propose significant and well researched improvements by editing the selected portion of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
  • When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.

If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "your question here ~~~~" to your talk page. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 17:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

How do you want to contribute? 331dot (talk) 10:36, 7 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Only minor edits to existing pages and paying careful attention to Wikepedia guidelines
What existing pages do you want to edit, or what topic areas are you interested in? What Wikipedia guidelines have you broken, and what steps will you take to follow them in the future? Unless you are prepared to give specific answers to these questions, it will be hard to unblock you. 331dot (talk) 18:30, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
The Wikipedia guidelines that I transgressed were publishing an article that appears promotional or like an advertisement. The steps I am taking to follow in the future is carefully reviewing Wikipedia guidelines and to not write directly about specific companies. I want to continue to contribute to Wikipedia and edit some specific concepts on existing pages like Telecom Transformation, Software-defined networking, Network virtualization platform, Network service.Fstop22 (talk) 6:21, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
  • I will give you the chance to show that you can make a constructive, substantive contribution(not just fixing spelling or grammar). This is simply an option I am giving you- you are free to request unblock to see if you can convince someone to unblock you without doing so if you wish. 331dot (talk) 17:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks. However I am still blocked, how can I make a constructive, substantive contribution in this status? fstop22 (talk) 10:42, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
You follow the procedure I laid out in your last unblock request. 331dot (talk) 22:27, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Theranos

edit

Draper was one of the first investors in the blood testing start up Theranos, whose founder Elizabeth Holmes was later charged by the SEC with committing massive fraud.[1][2]

Draper invested $500,000 in the seed stage round for Theranos.[3]

After a Wall Street Journal investigation into Theranos, Draper accused WSJ reporter John Carreyrou of having a vendetta, and claimed that the investigation of Theranos was an elaborate conspiracy.[4] In a 2016 interview with Rebecca Jarvis, Draper claimed that he saw "50 tests being run on 2 drops of blood" using Theranos technology and "it worked beautifully".[5] In 2018, after the SEC had already charged Holmes with "elaborate, years-long fraud", Draper continued to defend her, calling her a "great icon" who had been "bullied into submission" despite having done a "great job".[6]

Proposed deletion of Evolven

edit

The article Evolven has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails the notability guideline for companies, heavy COI editing. Sources are trivial or non-independent.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
