I really like your article topic of Child Abuse for our IAH209 class. I would maybe keep the title just child abuse and delete skin signs since it talks about the behavioral aspect in your article to. Your lead section is easy to understand and summarizes the overall topics of the article. I think you could go into a little more of a summary if you wanted too since you have the space/word capacity to do so. I like how you bullet pointed all of the signs of abuse, this makes it really easy for someone to "run down a list" if they are suspecting child abuse or they need a quick reference. Your main additions to the article that talk specifically about the skin signs are really interesting. I like how they all pretty much have citations to back them up too! A lot of your research is very scientific, so after your facts you could add a sentence in simpler language explaining anything really scientific. (Just to help people understand better). This is probably the most important thing you could do to improve your article so that people who are unfamiliar with scientific terms can still identify signs of abuse. Your article ties into my article of body donation because these are signs that can be noticed by the eye. If someone who was abused had their body donated the people examining the body could maybe ask for an autopsy or study the affects of long term abuse. Hi Carley,
Immediately the first thing I saw while reading your article was the title. Like Carley said, I think you might want to change the title to something else. I would suggest “Signs of Child Abuse”. The article is structured in a way that shows the physical and behavioral signs of child abuse, I think you can edit this to have those being the major sections and then including skin sign and etc in subsections. I like how the information is presented clearly and from a scientific approach. You cite all information and this improves the validity of the information in the article. Something you could improve on is the “Why Bruises Occur” subsection. This sub section is really awkward and I think you could just add that into the bruises section as a statement rather than creating another subsection and having the only information in it being a direct quote. Overall I think you have a lot of good information and you are quick to cite everything, however I think you could expound a little more on each section. The article seems to be very busy with different sections and then each section only has one to three sentences in it.
