Parys Sylver

edit

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Sango123 (talk) 23:34, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but you also removed it after the link was corrected. [1] It was probably unintentional, but thanks for replying. Regards, Sango123 (talk) 23:43, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, i just want to understand why you feel the article should be deleted. I sourced as much as i could. I feel if we work together we can make a better article. Firegirl223 23:48, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I remember this article being previously deleted as a vanity page some time ago. If you Google for 'Parys Sylver', there are only 52 distinct hits (the rest being duplicates) [2]. Many of the entries on those pages appear to have been submitted by someone trying to get this guy's name known online (e.g. free press release services). Thus, I do not believe this person to be notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia (see WP:BIO). --Kurt Shaped Box 23:57, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Even if this person is in a feature film, which as i explained is proven, and IMDB takes awhile to be updated, sometimes MONTHS. And the "free press releases" does not mean this person is not notable. I personally don't want to sit there and work on it by myself. I however disagree with your statement. Firegirl223 23:59, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
As I said, have a good read of WP:BIO, specifically this section. --Kurt Shaped Box 00:10, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I got your message. Actually, even if it's not a hoax that would not change my vote. The article is not verifiable, which is one our most important policies: Wikipedia:Verifiability. The subject's own website does not constitute verifiability. Chick Bowen 04:16, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: you deleted "parys sylver" may i ask why

edit

He beyond notable... I really don't understand why.

Hi Firegirl223, I deleted the article because part of what I do is close AfDs. According to the latest Parys Sylver AfD, there was a near-unanimous consensus to delete the article, with your comment being the only one against deletion. Beyond closing this AfD, I have no particular interest or prior knowledge of the Parys Sylver article. As a neutral AfD closer, my job is to look at the arguments in the AfD. I had no particular interest nor prior opinion on this article prior to closing the vote. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. --Deathphoenix ʕ 06:06, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
As I said, I just closed the AfD, and in doing so, I also weighed in your comments, but I also weighed in on the comments made by all the other people arguing for its deletion, and the final result of that analysis is that the article should be deleted. If you haven't already done so, you are free to list this Parys Sylver in WP:DRV, but I have to be honest with you, I don't see this AfD closure being overturned as a DRV is usually about process, not notability, and I don't believe this AfD went against process at all. If you still want to list this on DRV, please read Wikipedia:Deletion policy and Wikipedia:Undeletion policy before doing so, and also please let me know that you have done so. Thanks, Deathphoenix ʕ 19:45, 2 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Grammis

Hi Firegirl223. Just to let you know that Grammis is indeed the correct name for the Swedish Grammis awards. See http://www.grammis.se/ (in Swedish only, I'm afraid). Regards, CLW 00:58, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Bteena.jpg

edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bteena.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. CLW 01:18, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sources

edit

Don't say you've listed "hundreds of sources", because that is simply not factually correct. You've shown us the Globe source, which is a tabloid and not a reputable source, you've pointed me to a Google search which produced nothing, and you've pointed me to user-edited web sites like the IMDB. Please provide a reliable source Mad Jack 19:40, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

This link[4] is a user-submitted website, and not a reliable source precisely because of that. I don't know what the IMDB entries for Parys Sylver had to do with anything. Aside from the fact that they're not reliable because they're user-submitted. Mad Jack 19:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Again, if "Trevor himself" admitted it, please link to a reliable source where he "admitted it". That's all we need to confirm all of this. Reliable sources that provide the details. Mad Jack 19:49, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
But I already said that the Globe is a tabloid and therefore not reliable as a source Mad Jack 19:55, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Again, as Kurt Shaped Box also said on the Blumas page - the Globe is a talobid and not reliable. The IMDB is user-submitted and so is the book site. User-submitted means not reliable. Mad Jack 19:59, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely. The IMDB is a terrible source and should not be used to source Wikipedia. I don't know what they're smoking over there, but they never check any information and then Wikipedia editors have to clean up their mistakes when users come here submitting incorrect IMDB info. Mad Jack 20:04, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, the already-released film credits are usually reliable. Upcoming credits are crap, because the IMDB takes in any user submissions and never checks anything. Don't get me started on the trivia - I don't think there's a single A or B list actor that doesn't have a bunch of junky, incorrect information that some IMDB user decided was true, submitted, and then the IMDB promptly posted without checking. The only reliable sources for living people are first-hand sources - interviews - in-depth profiles - anything where it's obvious the actor themself was involved in. Mad Jack 20:08, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well if there's no reliable source - for whatever reason, then we can't put it in. Mad Jack 20:12, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Play with Fire (song)

edit

Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article Play with Fire (song) are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at inline citations that best suits each article. Thanks! Extraordinary Machine 11:52, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pressbox.com is a website to which anyone can submit articles; note that http://www.pressbox.co.uk/detailed/Entertainment/Hilary_Duff_gets_Dissed_89839.html and http://www.pressbox.co.uk/detailed/Entertainment/Hilary_Duff_working_on_a_more_adult_album_70005.html allege the existence of a Duff song and/or album called "Can't Rain All the Time", which is completely untrue (it was a rumour, nothing more). I've found no references to Parys Sylver in any reliable sources. Yes, Wikipedia is supposed to be neutral, but that doesn't mean we should include "reviews" from unreliable and/or non-notable sources just to make the article appear more balanced. You might want to read Wikipedia:Vandalism before accusing other users of committing it. Extraordinary Machine 19:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I also reverted you for the reasons stated above. I agree with Extraordinary Machine 100% on this one. --Kurt Shaped Box 11:12, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
