Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Henry T. Yang. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. –Novem Linguae (talk) 23:38, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is a valid edit, including valid quotes. It is a neutral fact that Yang presided for 26 years. The university now claims gang rape did not happen under his tenure.
If you do not agree remove the page, but fact are facts and the plight of women under his tenure are real, painful and fact.Novem Linguae clearly is a white male that sanctions abuse.
In my opinion, your edits violate the following 3 Wikipedia policies.
  • WP:NPOV - The tone is not factual, it is persuasive. It is trying to convince the reader that his tenure is terrible. We're pretty much only allowed to state facts as reported in reputable sources.
  • WP:BLP - Anything controversial and poorly sourced can be immediately deleted from biographies of living persons. Biographies of living persons are sensitive, and a source of potential legal/libel issues. The standard for these articles is very high.
  • WP:OR - Taking a bunch of sources that don't even mention Yang, and weaving them together to paint your own picture, is original research.
I would encourage you to stop edit warring, and revert back to the old version. These are our policies, and we need to follow them in order to keep articles high quality. –Novem Linguae (talk) 00:44, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Where do you work? Who is your employee? Frederick G Backman 00:59, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Then please advise on how to accurately write about his tenure to include his role in the lives of women and the effects of his decisions that directly impacted the safety of women on campus? Frederick G Backman 01:02, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

It is real, women were hurt and the university took little action to protect them. It is a valued non bias viewpoint. Frederick G Backman 01:03, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

You’re very bad at what you do. Frederick G Backman 01:04, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

He hurt women. The page should actually be deleted. Frederick G Backman 01:04, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Your opinion is not valid. It is bias against women. You should not be in the job? Frederick G Backman 01:05, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I’d like to see your browsing history. Frederick G Backman 01:07, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Men that sanction hate against women, like you, should be fired. You have no place here. Frederick G Backman 01:08, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

To include stuff like that in Wikipedia, you need a reliable source to report on it. So for example, if the LA Times ran an article saying that Yang's administration doesn't do enough to address sexual assaults, you could paraphrase what the reputable article says.
If the UCSB newspaper said something like that, that isn't quite as good a source, but you could probably include it, if you mentioned it in a factual way without words like "wonton" and "unchecked".
Unfortunately, the sources that were provided don't mention Yang at all. So it's a bit of a stretch.
By the way, this is an encyclopedia that "anyone can edit". It is all volunteer editors.
Personal attacks are not a good way to debate. It is a type of logical fallacy that distracts from the actual issue being debated. And it is also against our rules. WP:NPANovem Linguae (talk) 01:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

What is your name and where do you work? Frederick G Backman 01:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

OK. Got it I’ll correct it to reflect that. Frederick G Backman 01:13, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I’m new here and very hurt by him. He did a lot of damage man. Painful damage. People died. I will remove wonton, but it happened under his tenure and his chancellor. Frederick G Backman 01:15, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I lost my cool. My opologies. Frederick G Backman 01:16, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Removed. Frederick G Backman 01:18, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

For example the fee hikes. That directly affected me, my wife could not finish her degree. Many others had to drop out. Thousands. Frederick G Backman 01:21, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Racism tension and violence. I was fired, when a colleague said die nigger in my office and when I reported it I was fired. Prof Hadjor, Black studies, his diabetes was so exasperated by the UCSB that it killed him. I can go on and on. CUNTS, bear with me, Creative Underground Network of Truthful sisters literally fought to save women students from date rape. It is a dangerous place of women students. We cannot gloss over all the aspect of leader, which he is. He is a leader. Frederick G Backman 01:26, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I will work on this, make it air tight. I’m actually going to hire a lawyer to ensure this post is maintained an meets all the requirements. Frederick G Backman 01:27, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Once again, I apologize and want to be valued contributor to Wikipedia. Frederick G Backman 01:28, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

iPad typing sucks. Frederick G Backman 01:29, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I will include more references to solidify this post and expand on the effects he had on the humanities and his focus on the sciences especially his relationship and courting of the military industrial complex. Frederick G Backman 01:31, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Another example is his denial of PHD program in the Black Studies department while securing billions, not millions, billions for the sciences. It changed the landscape and destiny of the university. Frederick G Backman 01:36, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

The technologies developed at UCSB, under is texture, were used in the war in Iraq. There is no Iraq anymore. So when you said opinion I got triggered. Frederick G Backman 01:38, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, again, for bringing me to debate and reasoning with me. It means a lot, more than you know. Frederick G Backman 01:39, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I am also tired, weary, and distraught of seeing Black men die for no reason. Frederick G Backman 01:41, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Just keep in mind that the articles 1) need to be from a reputable source such as a newspaper or book, and 2) need to mention Yang specifically. Just listing a bunch of negative events that happened under his tenure and trying to link them to him is, in my opinion, original research, which is against our rules and could be removed.
I do sympathize with you and your story. But we do have our rules here. Else many public figure's articles could be overrun with an excessive number of negative statements.
By the way, doesn't the University of California Board of Regents control tuition, as opposed to Yang specifically? Yang is not on the board of regents, I don't think. –Novem Linguae (talk) 01:42, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you look at his Wikipedia, one gets the impression that UCSB was Science based university. That was his focus. Most of the donations in billions, from State, Federal and Military funding went to the sciences. There is barely any mention of a single humanities endeavor. So the funding, the grants, the hiring, the salaries and the university’s support for students financially, financial support for intellectual endeavors separate from the UC, favored them to the detriment of the humanities. Your insinuation thatbUSCb had no recourse is just plain false and a ruse. Frederick G Backman 02:23, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I contributed two sourced sentences to the entire article, which I amended per you enlightening and will continue to refine. Black Lives Matter at UCSB. Frederick G Backman 02:27, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

I would further argue that he abandoned half the university population in favor of the sciences, used the fees of all students and disproportionately directed those funds to favor the sciences. Frederick G Backman 02:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

By the way who, did you vote for? Frederick G Backman 02:38, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
