Removal of Fair Use Images from your Userpage

edit

Hi. I removed the gallery images you had on your userpage because they are classified as Fair Use, and per Wikipedia policy, fair use images are not to be used outside of the article namespace. Unfortunately, they are now fair use orphans, and I have marked them as such as well. You can fix this by including them in an appropriate article and providing a detailed fair use rationale. If you do include them in an article and provide a rationale, you may remove the tags. Good luck! --MECUtalk 16:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Zgmfyzak.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Zgmfyzak.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MECUtalk 16:57, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Inappropriate categories for a user page

edit

You have included your user page in the following categories: S&P/TSX 60 Index | Dow Jones Industrial Average | Hang Seng Index Constituent Stocks. These categories are for articles about the companies that make up these stock market indicies, not for individual user pages. Your removal of those categories would be appreciated. Thank you. Your user page

edit

Hey F, I have a comment on your user page: it looks great, but as OccamsRazor points out above, the templates you have put at the bottom of it cause your page to be put into categories like Category:Dow Jones Industrial Average. Could you please remove the templates that are causing that problem (or I am happy to do it if you want). Thanks. UnitedStatesian (talk) 03:06, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hearing no response, I have gone ahead and removed the problematic templates. Let me know if you have any questions. UnitedStatesian (talk) 13:38, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia 15 in Winnipeg

Wikipedia15 Winnipeg maple leaf golden boy thunderbird house provencher bridge YWG

Wikipedia is celebrating its 15th birthday on January 15, 2016. I have thought for a while that it would be neat to meet some local wikipedians. According to the wikipedians in Winnipeg or Wikipedians in Manitoba category you are one of us. I am contacting people in this category to say: Let's celebrate this milestone. If you know other wikipedians, please ask them to join in as well.

I am posting this to your talk page as a transclude so that any updates will show up automatically.

Hope to see you there! Tenbergen (talk) 04:46, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

One other Winnipeg Wikipedian showed up, in addition to a number of regular skullspace members. It was nice to actually talk to someone else who has worked with Mediawiki and actually "gets" transclusion. Cake was eaten! Tenbergen (talk) 06:37, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Aw, apparently I haven't logged in to Wikipedia in over 6 years and I totally missed this message and the event! I guessed I missed any 20 year celebration, too. Let me know if you end up doing a 25 year one. :) Clayton Rumley (talk) 22:52, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
