RE:Album chart question

I've never been very good with coding, so I've asked a few times at Template talk:Single chart, where Matt Fitzpatrick (talk · contribs) helped in changing the spelling of an entry to the proper one. He may help you out with adding the UK Christian chart. Maybe write a message on his talk page or ping him on the album chart template talk page. Ss112 22:10, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Mercy (Shawn Mendes song)

Per this edit of yours, I don't think it's always that helpful to change chart entries to templates as soon as they've updated, especially if they're on an upward trajectory in the chart and will just be changed back into a manual reference the following week. I usually leave them as is until a week or two after their last peak to change them or remove references from discography articles (obviously some people remove refs from discographies as soon as the header source has updated, but it's not necessary). Ss112 01:53, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Just a note: This doesn't necessarily apply to "Mercy" anymore, just for future reference/songs. Ss112 02:09, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Meghan articles

I am trying to get "Title" to Good topic status. Remaining articles are the album article, AATB, MTrain Tour and Title (song). Are you and @Cornerstonepicker: up for it too?--MaranoFan (talk) 12:20, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

I'm up for it. Glad you're back! FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 14:01, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
I know, I'm glad to be back too. Lets start with MTrain Tour, whaddaya say?--MaranoFan (talk) 14:55, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
Sounds good. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 15:00, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
[New fac https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/Lips_Are_Movin/archive1] please comment.--MaranoFan (talk) 15:22, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

I do need to read up on FA/GA before I comment. I'm not too acquainted with the different policies. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 23:43, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

There seems to be a misunderstanding here. The current image is the cover art for the album Dua Lipa (album). The other image, that you reverted, is the cover for the single. As you can see on the bottom where it said the name of the song. You can see it here. I've asked an admin to split the images into two separate files and I will be fixing the fair-use rationales to match correctly. If you have any questions please let me know. --Majora (talk) 22:52, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

@Majora: It seems that there are two cover for the single. These links [1][2][3] show the image I reverted to. These images [4][5], show the same image being used, although being tagged for different versions of the song. Should we gather a consensus on which image to use? I have no preference on which is used, just as long as this gets sorted out. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 21:27, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
We could. I just went with the logical choice with the images. The file that is now at File:Blow Your Mind (Mwah) (Official Single Cover) by Dua Lipa.png (the one I reverted to) actually has the name of the song on the image itself. As opposed to File:Dua Lipa album.png which just has the words "Dua Lipa" which would make sense for the self-titled album Dua Lipa (album). If you want to start a talk page conversation I would be more than happy to participate in it. As a side note, you can't add ping templates to an already completed message. The ping system won't send that way. If you forget to ping or don't do it right the first time you have to do a whole new line with a new signature (I only saw this since I watchlisted your talk page to see if there would be a response). --Majora (talk) 01:25, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

On & Off (song)

I'm very confused about your move of this page. You cited WP:NCTR#Percent and encoded characters, which does not say anything about not using ampersands, otherwise most uses of the ampersand in titles of works would have been changed by now. WP:AMPERSAND says "Retain an ampersand when it is a legitimate part of a proper noun, such as in Up & Down or AT&T", which applies here, as the cover art and its iTunes listing say "On & Off". As for Maggie Rogers' "On + Off", fair enough that you think that is a stylisation (as Florence and the Machine had this issue several years ago as the name is rendered with a plus sometimes), but you created a double redirect. Ss112 16:47, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Hey! Not sure how much of the link you read, but it states "Similarly a title cannot contain HTML character entities such as / and –, even if the character they represent is allowed." The ampersand is a bit small, but it is indeed included. Are you referencing my redirecting "On and Off (song)" to the disambiguation page? Forget that, I thought the 47 following the hashtag was code as well. The literal code is /. I read WP:AMPERSAND and see what you mean. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 19:59, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, the ampersand is a bit tricky as it makes up part of other codes, with / being a forward slash. I understand the confusion. Ss112 21:44, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve Temperamental Love

Hi, I'm Mduvekot. FanofMusic, thanks for creating Temperamental Love!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. I see no evidence that the subject meets the notability criteria in Wikipedia:Notability (music)

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Mduvekot (talk) 18:51, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

I agree. It was meant to be a RD until sufficient information on the song could be supplied to the article. I have redirected it back to the artist's discography page. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 20:01, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Solo Dance (song) cover

Hi User:FanofMusic, can you get a cover for Solo Dance by Martin Jensen from Deezer or somewhere, thanks--Theo Mandela (talk) 04:05, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: Sure! I've already uploaded it. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 12:21, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
👏 Thanks, that's a great image User:FanofMusic, top job!--Theo Mandela (talk) 19:40, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Kungs songs covers

Hello User:FanofMusic, Don't You Know (Kungs song), I Feel So Bad (Kungs song) and You Remain don't have singles covers, could you get some please? --Theo Mandela (talk) 18:14, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: Hi! I'm sorry about my late response. I haven't been around a computer as of late. I uploaded the artworks for "Don't You Know" and "I Feel So Bad". I couldn't find a cover for "You Remain". FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 14:37, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Great job User:FanofMusic and no worries, just noticed these songs are all over Deezer but didn't have covers, won't bother you all the time or anything, but didn't know any other users who could do it and I know you've done it a lot 👍--Theo Mandela (talk) 21:01, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
@Theo Mandela: Thank you! It's not a bother at all. I actually enjoy uploading artwork for singles/albums/etc. Glad I could help! FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 18:32, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

What do you think?

Hi User:FanofMusic, could you get cover images for Text from Your Ex, Piece of Me (MK and Becky Hill song) and You Want Me please? And if possible Black Beatles?

Also: What do you think about this? Going back 18 years, the cover on Wikipedia for Blue (Da Ba Dee) is not the same as the one used by Deezer (see here [1]) and Spotify (here [2]), is it right? Thanks again.--Theo Mandela (talk) 08:37, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela:   Done — And in response to the "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" artwork, songs from the '90s era, even now, can use multiple artworks. The current cover for it may be a CD single cover or vinyl pressing cover? So in other words, I'm not sure if it's 100% correct, but it is an official cover. Just one of many. See here, there are over 45 releases for the song, with different covers. Hope that helped! FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 18:30, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Great job User:FanofMusic, didn't know that about old singles, just assumed there was 1 official cover, all good.--Theo Mandela (talk) 07:38, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 15

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ocean Eyes (song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Idolator. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Skin (Rag'n'Bone Man song) cover

Hi User:FanofMusic, can you get a cover image for Skin please?--Theo Mandela (talk) 04:54, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela:   Done :) FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 20:36, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
👍 Thanks for that User:FanofMusic.--Theo Mandela (talk) 20:50, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Could you get a cover for On My Mind (Disciples song) too please.--Theo Mandela (talk) 21:09, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Disciples' song covers

Morning User:FanofMusic, can you add cover art for On My Mind (Disciples song), They Don't Know (Disciples song) and No Worries (Disciples and David Guetta song) please. 👍--Theo Mandela (talk) 00:19, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela:   Done FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 14:28, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Black Beatles cover

Hi User:FanofMusic, just wondered if this cover art [3] (bigger image here [4]) from Australian Charts would be better for Black Beatles than the remix art currently used on page. Usually the SremmLife 2 artwork is used in chart lists, but Galway Girl (Ed Sheeran song) has a cover on Wikipedia, even though in chart lists the ÷ artwork is used. Thanks, --Theo Mandela (talk) 23:53, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

And: Can you get cover art for Sí (Martin Jensen song), Miracles (Martin Jensen song) and All I Wanna Do (Martin Jensen song) please.--Theo Mandela (talk) 00:06, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: I've uploaded and added the Martin Jensen single covers. As for the "Black Beatles" cover, the current remix cover would be the one I would prefer, being that Hung Median has used unofficial covers before (ex. "Fools" by Troye Sivan). Hope that helped! FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 19:53, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Sweat cover

Hi User:FanofMusic, can you get a cover for Wet (Snoop Dogg song)#"Sweat", the David Guetta Remix please? Cheers.--Theo Mandela (talk) 07:33, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Done :) FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 18:44, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Instruction (song)

Hi User:FanofMusic, just letting you know a new song article has been created for "Instruction". It's released to streaming on Friday, any edits you can make would be a great benefit :)--Theo Mandela (talk) 22:19, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

@Theo Mandela: Hey! I've been a bit busy as of late, but I would love to help! FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 00:38, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Snoop Dogg

Hi User:FanofMusic, noticed a lot of Snoop Dogg single covers are too short (extreme example is for Life of da Party, but one of many). Also: can you get covers for Murder Was the Case (song) (remix), New York, New York (Tha Dogg Pound song), 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted, Wrong Idea, Mission Cleopatra (song), Do U Wanna Roll (Dolittle Theme) and Wiggle (song) please? Cheers, --Theo Mandela (talk) 01:27, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Talk header

Hi, FanofMusic. I noticed that you have created many file talk pages only using {{Talk header}}. Please note that talk pages should not be created using only the template. The documentation reads: "This template should be used only when needed. There is no need to add this template to every talk page. Do not create a talk page that contains only this template." Please keep this in mind for the future, thanks! xplicit 04:12, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

...

Hi, what's the point of uploading another cover for Sorry Not Sorry (Demi Lovato song) when there was already a version uploaded by me? There's no difference and it makes no sense. — MUST BE Love on the Brain. 11:34, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

@Love on the Brain: Hello! I had explained in my edit summary and included a link to a page to help explain my reasoning. The previous single cover was in jpg format, and single covers/album covers/book covers/etc. should be uploaded in png format. WP:Mos/Images states: "The PNG format is useful for storing graphics that contain text, line art, or other images with sharp transitions. It can achieve the same graphical results as a GIF file, and in many cases do so with a higher rate of file compression. For this reason, PNG format files are usually preferred to the GIF format. For images with substantial editing, or for which further editing may be warranted, uploading a PNG as well as a JPEG is common (PNG is lossless compression, so repeatedly saving edits on a PNG will not result in loss of quality.)"; emphasis on "graphics that contain text, line art, or other images with sharp transitions". Another editor had brought this to my attention as I used to upload artwork in jpg/jpeg format as well. I hope this helped and I apologize if my edit offended you! :) FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 17:32, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
