? title in output

edit

Could the template be tweaked to show the title of the object in the reference list? On Sweet Track the reference Other portions are stored at the British Museum, London. gives the output in the reference list "1986,1201.1-27 exhibition highlight page, British Museum" with the code number & BM made into links. This may not be too helpful to the reader who doesn't know what exhibition highlight page 1986,1201.1-27 refers to.— Rod talk 09:47, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The example you give does not actually use a template so the footnote link can be reformatted and improved as you see fit. The guidance here is intended to be for the reference number itself, there should still be a description of what the object is (such as its common name, if it has one). The template British-Museum-db is flexible in that the registration number parameter can actually be any text you prefer if that is more helpful to the reader, for example the registration number could be prefixed by the common name. I'm not sure if this answers your question, perhaps you could re-phrase it? (talk) 10:09, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks I've added the title of the object into the reference, perhaps I should use the template?— Rod talk 10:22, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Only if it makes life easier. There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple :) (talk) 22:54, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

BM Refs Broken Due to Site Update

edit

Unfortunately, the British Museum's website has been updated, and the template no longer works.

The link when trying to find EA 32751, on Wikipedia, shows the below: https://www.britishmuseum.org/research/search_the_collection_database/search_object_details.aspx?objectid=117645&partid=1

This link does not lead to the correct site below: https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/Y_EA32751

Is there a way to update the template to fix this? DeemDeem52 (talk) 17:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
