El objetivo de las multiplicaciones no es hacer ver al lector que todas las circunscripciones en esa línea reparten el mismo número de diputados, sino hacer ver al lector cuantos escaños reparte cada grupo de provincias con X número de diputados. Esto es importante debido a que las provincias con menor número de diputados reparten un número muy alto de escaños, al mismo tiempo que el reparto de escaños por partidos es poco proporcional en las mismas. Las multiplicaciones ayudan a apreciar cuánto peso respecto del global tiene cada grupo de provincias y, en consecuencia, cuantos escaños se reparten de manera más proporcional y cuántos menos proporcionales.
