Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Ericka Dawn, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, -- Alf melmac 08:29, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

A 2nd welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia! I came across your note on the New Users log; we can certainly use help in punctuation, grammer, etc, fixing. (I think that last sentence was an example of what I mean...) Some existing projects devoted to this are: (taken from Wikipedia:List of WikiProjects)

  • Fix common mistakes started November 2004: "A project to fix common mistakes in the article namespace."
  • Grammar started December 2004: "...aims primarily to establish a place where people can ask about grammar, improve their grammar, and to correct grammar on articles."
  • Project Punctuation started May 2005: To fix missing punctuation in Wikipedia articles.
  • Tpyo tyPo Typo started November 2003: "Please list here any spellings or typos in need of correction. If only one or two articles exist with an incorrect spelling, please feel free to correct them yourself instead of listing the word here."

Also, looking at: Template:Active_Wiki_Fixup_Projects has pleanty of fun work to do.

Finally, I'd suggest you create a basic user page - it can be as little as a copy of what you posted on the New Users log, in fact, many experenced Wikipedias consider simple text stating a bit about yourself, and what you plan to do to improve the encyclopedia to be the best userpage to have. Edits by users with no user page tend to be looked at with extra scrutiny, as it's often a sign that the user is not particularly involved with Wikipedia, and may not be working to improve the encyclopedia.

If you have any questions, please ask on my talk page, or ask your question here, and add the template: {{helpme}}, and someone will check in. Thanks, and enjoy editing! JesseW, the juggling janitor 08:37, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

They are at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Please remember to substitute the template for text - eg {{subst:test1}} --Alf melmac 23:06, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

League of the South

edit

It's good to see that someone's takling this article; to be perfectly honest, I just wanted to remove POV : I'm just not up to thoroughly researching the organization right now. However, I did notice that you had removed the following:

it is also a social and religious movement, advocating a Southern culture "structured upon the Biblical notion of hierarchy, [where] Christ is the head of His Church;

husbands are the heads of their families; parents are placed over their children; employers rank above their employees; the teacher is superior to his students, etc." [1]

I believe that this information is important; many groups seeking political autonomy for this or that region do not seek strict gender hierarchy. Furthermore, the article linked at the bottom of the page is quite useful for looking at some of the historical and theological underpinnings of this and other similar groups. --Zantastik talk 03:43, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
