License tagging for Image:ShHamza.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ShHamza.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Tim Winter article link on Plovdiv

edit

Salam alaikum, I have looked over the talk page and article history briefly. InshaAllah I will do my best to help, but first I have a few questions.

  • I noticed that some other users have also added the same article, so I suppose that it is well known and that other people would like to see it included. Have you messaged any of these brothers or sisters?
  • There appears to be several editors that have removed the link from the article and have expressed opposition to it on Plovdiv's talk page. Have you considered discussing it with them there?

Also when you get the chance, review the [[1]] page and show it to those who don't want the link included. People may allege bias if they like about just about any external link, but from what I can see no one has provided any outstanding reason why the article shouldn't be included. Let me know if you need anything else. MezzoMezzo 21:13, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Tim Gaze

edit

A tag has been placed on Tim Gaze, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Corvus cornix 23:20, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Although I believed it already clear I have re-uploaded it stating it is my own work & under a free license & I sincerely hope I 'm not dealing with an anti-Muslim Xenephobe. Enthogenesis 22:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have to specify which free license you are releasing it under. I recommend GFDL which is the same as your text contributions are released under. Just add {{GFDL-self}} to the image. And for the record I am not an anti-Muslim Xenephobe:-). I just delete images that doesnt conform with Wikipedias image policy's. Rettetast 22:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your vandalism

edit

You did not post citation for the blatantly biased information you posted on the Yusuf Estes article. I have here what you posted:

In 2001 he [allaahuakbar.net/individual_callers/hamza_yusuf/hamza_yusuf_where_did_he_go_wrong.htm posted public criticisms] of Shaykh Hamza Yusuf revealing a literal, wahhabi (see above) or salafi style & anti-tassawuf understanding ofIslam, in contrast to the opinions of the 4 main Imams & founders of the 4 main Madhabs of Islam: Imam Malik, Imam Shafi'i, Imam Abu Hanifa & Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

First of all, whether or not Estes' interpreations are literal, Wahhabi, or Salafi are purely your own opinion and for you to insert that into the article is an obvious violation of the official Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy. Estes does not claim to be any of those things so for you to claim that he is is neither objective nor substantiated; it is just your opinion.
Second of all, your claim that the four imams practiced tassawuf is either a gross misunderstanding or a bold faced lie. You have absolutely no proof for claiming so and I have mounds of authentic proof against what you have said, recorded by the scholars of those very madh'habs as well as these imams themselves. Sufism itself is debated amongst the madhahib, proving even more silly your assertion that all four imams practiced it.
So the page was not asking for this specific reference, as what you inserted to the page was false and biased. The reference did not even verify any of the ridiculous claims you made, so you not only weren't following any Wikipedia guidelines but you were actually violating one (namely, the neutral point of view one I mentioned above).
As far as living in Saudi, it is irrelevant. I know many people who have - one is sitting right next to me as I am writing this - who openly contradict what you have said. While Allaahuakbar.net is a good site and is based in India, much of their material is taken straight from scholars in Saudi, so your accusation that it would be banned as extremist is patently ridiculous.
As for your "point", I removed the link because you posted it to prove a point that it doesn't prove. The link doesn't prove that Estes is "Wahhabi", a literalist, a Salafi, or anti-tasawwuf, as he didn't claim to be any of these things. You were posting your own incorrect assumptions and using the link to try to support them despite the fact that it didn't prove your biased POV at all. Just because you seem to think the material is hateful doesn't make it so; they have not expressed hate for any group. If you really want it up, the letter is also on Estes' own official site, which is the first of the external links, so people may find it there. I didn't remove it because it was already available on his Wiki page.
As far as reporting me goes, go ahead. I more than dare you; I welcome the chance to have it looked at. I can guarantee you that once the Wikipedia administration views the article, not only will they agree that I haven't vandalizd anything, but that I was actually protecting the article from you. Report it if you want, but do so with the knowledge that it will not turn out well for you. Leave the article alone if you can't be objective and please cool off and do your research before posting such diatribes on people's talk pages. MezzoMezzo 20:01, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

EFP/ENG

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on EFP/ENG, by SkierRMH (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because EFP/ENG fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

looks like an attempt at a disambig page, but with two 3-letter sequences, neither notable
