I am concerned about all three articles, Ali Malkawi, T.C. Chan Center for Building Simulation and Energy Studies and QSAS. They have overlapping content, and you and the user previously named User:Tcchancenter and now named User:Sustain(able) have apparently written all three of them. all of them rather promotional.

You ask me how you can fix this. My short answer is that you should not be editing articles with this degree of conflict of interest. As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. You can safely update and correct errors, but beyond that suggest changes on the talk page.

Leave it to others. Remember that if your organization is notable, other people will know it, and write the article. That you have to write it yourself tends to show just the opposite.

I will help you: Since I often work with faculty articles, I will rewrite the article on the person, if you tell me where you had originally copied it from--you said you removed the signs of copy paste, but i think it more likely that you merely changed a few words around and removed some of the adjectives of praise. Removing copyvio means rewriting completely from scratch, and i can better do that if I know what was the original source.

The article on the center I think will be very difficult to defend; I will instead merge it into the article for the school of architecture. I'll check the WSAS article for duplication and tone, but I think it will be OK. DGG ( talk ) 21:05, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the offer to help. I compiled the information from several sources which are listed in the references, I think the main info came from here: The faculty profile: http://www.design.upenn.edu/people/malkawi_ali-m The board profile: http://www.gord.qa/index.php?page=board-of-directors I added quotes over sections that would have been exact copy/paste – such as the mission/goals statements/descriptions, etc. (such as www.design.upenn.edu/facilities/resources-school).
Both the center and QSAS articles had previously been published (not by me) and on Wikipedia for a few years before I created the Ali Malkawi article. I updated the other pages with current information such as links to articles that were current since there were postings about lack of sources/link rot (since I found them while I was creating the Malkawi page). Would I be able to add additional links to sources for any of these articles in the future?
Regarding the center page, it had been up for a while, published by another user. The merge had been discussed on the talk page. I think it should have it’s own page. From what I understand, it functions as a separate entity – with different goals, objectives, mission, members, projects, offices, events, than the school of architecture. I did find a lot of independent sources listed under “T.C. Chan Centre” that could be added. Just trying to understand why it would be difficult to defend--in the past I have read Wikipedia articles about other departments or centers within large universities that have their own pages. I think that this center has coverage and has work that is notable for Wikipedia.
