Welcome to the photographers contest

edit

Welcome, Emporostheoros, to WikiProject Connecticut and the photographers contest. I've been worried about how few are contributing, nice to see a few more photos being added. I did link in a couple of your photos to National Register of Historic Places listings in New Haven, Connecticut. If you would prefer a different photo chosen as the centerpiece of the historic district, feel free to pick a different one.--SPhilbrickT 16:56, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for calling my attention to that page. I'd like to try filling more of the blanks, whether within or without the contest.Emporostheoros (talk) 21:09, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm guessing you are from the New Haven area, so you may not need help finding any of the lcoations. However, note that page has a link to Google and Bing maps, which shows the location of each place on the list. Caution, I noted that one of the flags on the map was a few hundred yards off the actually location, even though the coordinates in the list were fine - not exactly sure what to make of it, but just treat the maps as less than perfect. I'm hoping that over the course of a few months, we can have a picture for every NRHP site.--SPhilbrickT 16:18, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate image

edit

Just an FYI - File:Hotchkiss1.jpg is a dulicate of File:Grave of Herman Hotchkiss.jpg, so your count for the Herman Hotchkiss will be (1). You may want to delete the File:Hotchkiss1.jpg image. Thanks, Markvs88 (talk) 18:56, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure how to delete this duplicate. The second of two I counted was FIle:Hotchkiss2.jpg, a closeup of the inscription.Emporostheoros (talk) 22:15, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

My barnstar

edit

Hello, could you please look through my photos to verify they meet the contest rules & award me the regular barnstar if I made the cut? I don't want to do that myself. Thanks, Markvs88 (talk) 17:11, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ahavas Sholem Synagogue facade, in New Haven

Hi. Thanks! for taking pics for Ahavas Sholem Synagogue and other New Haven locations. I plugged away at developing National Register of Historic Places listings in New Haven, Connecticut list-article and individual articles that it indexes during Feb-May of this year, and it is now gratifying to see your pics bringing some of them much more to life! I appreciate your taking a separate pic of the detail for the synagogue one. In general, I hope you'll consider uploading a few pics for each building that you get around to. The articles can all be developed more, and can easily use several pics. Keep up the good work! And good luck in the CT photo contest. I'd appreciate if u'd give SPhilbrick something to worry about.... :) --doncram (talk) 01:31, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. That is a good and very useful page. I will be trying to fill in some more of the blanks. Yes, the articles can all be developed and I'd like to try chipping in with that. The articles for all historic "districts" could each benefit from a listing of contributing buildings and individual photographs...Emporostheoros (talk) 22:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair Haven

edit

Hello! I am going through your photo contributions and notice that you've tagged quite a few with "Category:Fair Haven (New Haven)", which doesn't exist. Would you want to change that over to New Haven, or would you like the Fair Haven category? I have no problem creating it, but if so I'd like someone else to re-tag articles from New Haven into Fair Haven. Great work, btw! Best, Markvs88 (talk) 18:14, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please let me know what to do. Category:Fair Haven (New Haven) is a category in the Wikipedia Commons, where the photos I categorized there show up.Emporostheoros (talk) 22:15, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I've created Category:Fair Haven (New Haven). Feel free to add [[Category:Fair Haven (New Haven)]] to the bottom of any Fair Haven images and articles and remove the New Haven tag if you think it makes sense. Thanks, Markvs88 (talk) 21:02, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also, User:Needscurry has a question for you on File talk:Beaver Hills8.jpg. I think the description could be a little more verbose myself. :-) Best, Markvs88 (talk) 18:35, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
