Impersonation

edit

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because as you have admitted, this username is an impersonation of a living person, something we do not permit. You also should read this guidance on the topic of conflicts of interest (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, nor is trolling or other disruptive behavior ever tolerated. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} on your user talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

Hi - I didn't realize the username I chose was against the rules. If I'm understanding this correctly, I need to change the user? Did I do that by typing in my name here? Thanks very much. Also, I thought I was registering for Wikimedia commons only - I just wanted to upload a photo. I posted a question here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk#I_created_a_Commons_account_-_can_I_add_an_image_to_an_article.3F and was told I could do that and then just suggest that a real Wikipedia editor could decide to post it. Elaine Turner is a real individual, not just a company, and that's what I was trying to illustrate by uploading her image. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 03:10, 20 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Wikimedia Commons and English Wikipedia are different websites; that said, assuming you get a name change and get unblocked, due to single unified login you also, by default, have an account on Commons (as well as every other website owned and maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation). I have also taken the liberty of merging your unblock requests. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:51, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have no objection to an unblock for purpose of requesting a new username; but you have to be aware of our rules on editors with a conflict of interest, since you work for the subject of the article Elaine Turner. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:51, 17 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I understand. And as I discussed with Wikipedia editors on the help page, I just wanted to upload an image we owned, release the rights, then suggest to legit editors that the image be used on the article. Can you change the user name and unblock me so I may do that? Thanks in advance... Elaineturner (talk) 22:39, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
