Fixing redirects

Hello. Just a thought, might save yourself a bit of work. We're actually advised against "fixing" redirects that aren't broken, as set out here. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 22:16, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Ok then.--EchetusXe 22:17, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

dab=footballer

No idea, I'm afraid. I think I went over to that format (for reasons of size and neatness) at the same time as restructuring the BCFC lists into their current <25, 25-99, 100+ split, so was making massive edits anyway. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, it seems to me to save at least a few hundred bytes over a big list, but sometimes templates and such can slow up a page. It seems a good idea anyway, thanks.--EchetusXe 13:18, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

J. Kolle Jack Samuels

Hello EchetusXe, these footballers appear to be one and the same person: Kolle (=Samuels) [[1]] (Kolle: official name, Samuels: name most often used????) Cattivi (talk) 12:23, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Could be, could well be. I just got the info off the 1938 FIFA World Cup squads page.--EchetusXe 12:39, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Infobox datestamps

Hello. You do know that 00:00, 24 January was midnight last night, and therefore before tonight's game? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 22:23, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Never really gave it any thought.--EchetusXe 22:27, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Was surprised to see an experienced editor systematically updating infoboxes with timestamps that didn't match the stats included, that's all. Sorry to have bothered you. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 22:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Nah, I'm pissed off because I forgot all about the game tonight. Its a Thursday night, can't remember Vale every playing on a Thursday before!--EchetusXe 22:48, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Nicknames

You haven't begun writing club nicknames as "nicknames", have you? Someone has, and it's veh annoying. - Dudesleeper talk 00:34, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes.--EchetusXe 01:06, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
Oh. [Swiftly smacks him in the mouth] - Dudesleeper talk 15:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
No need for violence. Actually I believe I have been doing that for years now so I forget what caused the change. I think I might have seen another editor doing it. I imagine it is an optional style choice. Over the past few years I have changed all Port Vale player/manager/staff articles to that style in the process of general editing. So yeah, come on the "Valiants" / Valiants.--EchetusXe 15:21, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback deployment

Hey EchetusXe; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:55, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Writer's Barnstar
I noticed that others have commended your hard work in the past, but, as a frequent STiki user, I've noticed that your edits are constantly flagged for review (no idea why considering how credentialed you are, but ClueBot NG works in mysterious ways), but I've never run into a single one that wasn't a great contribution. Thanks for your tireless edits and constructive additions, and I hope to work with you in the future! Jackson Peebles (talk) 17:39, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks mate, appreciated.--EchetusXe 19:44, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Gordon Banks

Lately I've been reviewing a few of the football articles that have been stuck in the GA nomination backlog. I just took a look at Banks to consider whether or not to pick it up for review. I decided to leave it so that there's another opinion on this (I'm twitchier than most people on the issue), but the thing that struck me is that there's a lot of references to his autobiography. While there's no hard and fast rules laid down about it, citing so much to a single source isn't ideal, and given that its an autobiography I'd personally be reluctant to pass it on primary source grounds. That's just my personal (and most likely stricter than average) approach to things, but I thought I'd give you a heads up in case the eventual reviewer thinks the same. Oldelpaso (talk) 21:11, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Well done Vale

Sorry

... for this sloppy revert. I should have looked a but further down the line. Good that you found out and put things straight again. Cheers - DVdm (talk) 18:27, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

No problem.--EchetusXe 20:42, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

June 2013

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Darren Carter may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 16:44, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks bot.--EchetusXe 17:43, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Gordon Banks

  • Just a note to say that I finished off the remaining edits for the GA nom, and it's now a GA. Also, kudos on the work you're doing on Darren Carter (he's an ex-Birmingham player, so I'm definitely glad to see his article being improved!) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 17:00, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
Nice one, thanks. Yeah, Carter is being linked heavily with Port Vale so I started work on the article!--EchetusXe 17:43, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
  • I'm really not sure what happened to Carter's career. He was a fantastic talent at Birmingham, but for whatever reason, he didn't get a chance, and now he's fourth-tier standard. I find it amusing that I finished off Banks' GA on the same day as I finished a GA on another England goalkeeper: Paul Robinson. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:55, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, really a dearth of good English goalkeepers in the 2000s.--EchetusXe 20:14, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Caretaker managers in Managers Template

Hello mate, could you please provide your opinion on including caretaker managers like Brian Kidd in the Club Managers template on Template talk:Manchester City F.C. managers#Brian_Kidd. I am trying to build consensus and your input is invaluable. Thanks. JMHamo (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
