About NAFTNet
editPlease do not add links to NAFTNet in every article that remotely pertains to it. Wikipedia's purpose is to provide a source of knowledge for everyone, not direct people to goods or services. That would go against Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, and also that fact that it's not be a soapbox. Thank you! GracenotesT § 21:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Appreciate the concern, but this was NOT meant as advertizing or promotion - rather, NAFTNet (which comprises all the North American fetal treatment centers) is supposed to be more neutral than any individual center. It therefore only promotes information. Ebunny 13:42, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hm. Despite NAFTNet's neutral services, the point of an external link is not to have a reader do things related to the subject; it's to have them learn things very related to it. Feel free to link to NAFTNet on an article on fetal treatment centers, but everywhere else, it's only peripherally related, so WP:EL doesn't recommend it (the last item in "Links to normally be avoided". Fair enough - I'm new here, and I'm learning. As you probably figured out, I am involved with NAFTNet - but this is not really a conflict of interest; NAFTNet's goal will be to be the portal to trust regarding fetal treatment and fetal medicine, because there is so much out there - some good, some really bad; however, NAFTNet should not be the authority in the field because we say so, but because everybody else says it. I hope that this will occur spontaneously, and I'm not at all trying to push an agenda. I will not systematically insert links to NAFTNet.org, promised! (But where individual centers are posting their center's URL as a promotional/informational move, I would hope that these links would eventually be replaced by more impartial sources of further information...)Ebunny 17:05, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm... you know, if NAFTNet is a reliable source (check out the link), it could possibly be used as an source -- rather than being just an external link, it can verify information. If one of NAFTNet's goals is to promote neutral information, it can do that Wikipedia, since neutrality is one of Wikipedia's policies. I would discourage having it as an external link in articles except for ones to which it directly relates (like NAFTNet), though, because of the external links bit. If you'd like, check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine, a WikiProject designed for accuracy and neutrality in medicine articles. GracenotesT § 20:28, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. NAFTNet may become a source as its site has more content (right now, it is all fairly general). Certainly, it could function as a source for a topic such as fetal intervention; as topics are added to the NAFTNet site, they will hopefully become neutral, consensus-built sources... Time permitting, I will definitely look into the Medicine project; I don't know how many medical specialists are actively involved with Wikipedia, but I would love to contribute where I can...Ebunny 01:37, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
The article North American Fetal Therapy Network has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~TPW 15:17, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
