Why do you refuse to go to the link given in the image deletion notice and on this page too which takes you to the copyright tags? There you can select the proper licence under which this image is licenced but you state that the image File:Richard Fitzwilliams photo 2.JPG is a This simple, harmless photograph is THE COPYRIGHT OF FITZWILLIAMS AND ASSOCIATES.. In that case they own the copyright and we must have their express permission to use it unless you can prove it to be freely licenced which does not seem to be the case. Please have the copyright owner follow the procedure found at WP:PERMISSION. If you do not add a proper proven copyright tag to the image page it will be deleted because we take copyright status very seriously. Many images uploaded are copyright violations because the images are still in copyright and are simply stolen from their owners. Sorry you find it so difficult but there are rules we have to follow and copyright is one we are especially critical with. ww2censor (talk) 14:45, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:RichardFitzwilliams.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:RichardFitzwilliams.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:08, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your knowledge of Richard Fitzwilliams

The detail of your knowledge of Fitzwilliams continues to impress me. Where does the knowledge come from? -- Hoary (talk) 23:18, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

(I almost hate to mention it, but I have sometimes documented data like this by finding dates of graduate ceremonies. But anyway, it's unencyclopedic detail except for the most famous people.) DGG ( talk ) 15:50, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

style

edit

I am making changes in style to conform to the usual Wikipedia practice, and I will thank you not to reverse them.I have a great deal of experience in making articles such as this acceptable, and I remind you that the further people with COI stay away from it, the better.

  1. We refer to everyone after the first mention by the last name only--with the exception of performers better known by their first name only. Using both names is seen as promotional, as a attempt to show off the full name as a point of personal pride (similarly with companies, we use the brief name in text, not the legal name) The only place in your article where it was necessary was in discussing the family, but most of that was unencyclopedic and removed. In fact, we normally prefer "he" to giving the name, when unambiguous; usually I include the name only once per section to start off the section.
  2. When there's a linked person mentioned, the nature of their career is usually left to the article on them. More is usually considered promotional, in seeking to address the subject's name with other more notable people.

The net result of other than the plainest writing for people of relatively borderline notability is to provoke the deletion of the article: it influence the way people here look at it. DGG ( talk ) 15:50, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
