October 2018 edit

  Please do not add or change content, as you did at Edd Gould, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. General Ization Talk 15:03, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re your email to me, you may not provide a citation of content you add to an article here "to yourself". Wikipedia requires that all content be sourced to reliable, published sources and be verifiable by any reader of the encyclopedia. Further, if you are who you say you are, you should not be editing the article Edd Gould at all. See the notice I will next post on your page. General Ization Talk 15:36, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
If there are no published sources for the information you are trying to add to the article, the content may not be added. Information (supposedly) known only to you and other family members may not be added to the encyclopedia, because it is not verifiable (and because we cannot verify that you are who you claim to be). Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Duncan.gould. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Edd Gould, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. General Ization Talk 15:36, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re: your email, please see above, particularly the portion that suggests you "propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template)". General Ization Talk 16:40, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

However, even when proposing changes rather than making them, you must identify published, reliable sources for the content you are proposing to add. See WP:BURDEN. Other editors, just as you, may not add content for which there are not published sources, nor rely in any way on your claim to be the subject's father, since it is not verifiable. Some proposed changes edit

Information to be added or removed: Duncan Gould (1957-) is the Father of Edd Gould Explanation of issue: This information is missing from my late son's wikipedia page References supporting change: There is no url about this, I'm afraid. Don't know how else to verify it apart from uploading something. Birth certificate? Duncan.gould (talk) 16:55, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please see Reliable sources and Primary, secondary and tertiary sources for information on what can and cannot be used as reliable sources here. General Ization Talk 17:04, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
