COI

Regarding this note at Wikipedia:Help desk, I don't think your interpretation of WP:COI is in line with either its intent or the community's position on the matter. Nothing in that guideline prevents people connected to a subject from editing the subject article; rather, it prevents them from editing with their own interests above those of the project. Because a person works for a company does not automatically mean they stand in conflict of interest, and conversely, one does not have to be an employee to be in conflict of interest. Any number of POV-pushers fall into the COI category but do not work for any particular organization.

I am not suggesting that the editor in question gets a free pass, but I do think that trotting out "COI" as a response does not put our best foot forward with new editors, or those who perceive themselves (correctly or not) as aggrieved in some way.  Frank  |  talk  15:59, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate you help. You're right, it is .tumblr.com. I knew it, I just didn't write it. WMcP (talk) 14:39, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks again, Dru. I just checked the link and it works. I'm not sure if this is the best way to reply to your message. You can reach me at wmcpher@mac.com. WMcP (talk) 19:18, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Post misplaced to user page

Hi! Thanks for your advice. Will it be sufficient if I cite or link some other artist personal sites or blogs which mention the name of 'DJ king Sams'? Will this solve the problem. (Tani12 (talk) 08:58, 14 March 2012 (UTC))

Your reasoning is fine with me. I was ignoring the connection to the page, which favors WP:RETAIN, and just looking at the disambiguation page, which seemed neutral. Thanks for the courtesy, Celestra (talk) 19:57, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
