Speedy deletion nomination of Indian Society for Orthomolecular Medicine

edit

A tag has been placed on Indian Society for Orthomolecular Medicine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. P. D. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTi5ENbNQl8&feature=related,, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gecCV-lpb4&feature=related,. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.

However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. You need to rewrite the article so that it's focus is on the organization, not medical practices. As it stands now, it's a confusing mess of unrelated info and rather soapbox-like in it's assertions. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 20:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Promotional Material

edit

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia , and it's goal is to provide information about notable organizations, people, and other subjects. It is not intended for the promotion of these subjects.Almost all of the material in the article you have written about the Indian Society for Orthomolecular Medicine is purely promotional, being devoted to explaining the benefits of orthomolecular medicine. Such material is considered promotion, and has no place in Wikipedia, in this or any other article. A discussion of orthomolecular medicine, from a WP:NPOV neutral point of view, devoted to explaining it--not promoting it, does of course have a place, and that place is the already existing article on Orthomolecular medicine.

As reviewing administrator, I would probably have been justified in deleting the article entirely, under criterion WP:CSD G11. However, I managed to avoid this by reducing the article to the only appropriate information present, a basic description of the purpose of the society. But the articles did not contain any references providing substantial coverage of the society from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. This is necessary, in order to show notability, according to WP:ORG. References showing the importance of orthomolecular medicine is not appropriate or applicable here--it belongs elsewhere, and is covered in this article sufficiently by the link to the general subject. The article also did not contain any information about the activities or publications of the society, which would be appropriate and, indeed, necessary, content. Other appropriate content is the date of founding, the number of members, the names of the successive presidents of the society. Please add this sort of information as well as the references. Remember that the article is only about the society, not the overall medical subject.

For further information see our FAQ about business, organizations, and articles like this; also please see our information about Conflict of Interest. I advise you to improve this article very quickly, before the article gets deleted by a regular deletion process. DGG ( talk ) 00:48, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

despite the above advice, you have restored the unsatisfactory content. I have therefore speedy-deleted the article under criterion G11, Promotional material, and have blocked it against re-creation. Wikipedia may not be used for promotional purposes, however worthy the method, society , or cause being promoted. EIf you attempt to introduce other promotional material, it will be removed and your account will be blocked. I append the appropriate formal warning. However, we welcome positive contributions--please see the pages I referred to above to explain what this means. DGG ( talk ) 22:27, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
