Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Alexz.jpeg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Alexz.jpg. The copy called Image:Alexz.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 22:45, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Normal AJohnson 002.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Normal AJohnson 002.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Videmus Omnia Talk 01:54, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Judeharrison.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Oysterguitarist 18:46, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alexz Johnson Photo

edit

If you have a higher-res version of this photo, please upload it, as that would be a useful form of proof that you are indeed the rights holder. If you have any other proof, please put it forward quickly so that the picture can stay in the article. It's a good photo, and hopefully it can stay in.

User:JD_Fan 30 Sept 07

Anything proof you have on this would be helpful. The people who mark images (and articles) for deletion are relentless - not sure why, but that's the case.

Alexz Johnson Photo Again

edit

The photo was deleted by someone named User:ZAKDAY, who has done this before. I had left a message on his Talk page (after creating a User page for him - assuming it's a "him"), asking him for his reasons for deleting the picture previously, i.e., why he believed that the copyright status might be in question. He did not reply - he just deleted my entry on his Talk page, which is not proper procedure. If he continues to delete the picture without explanation, then we report him for vandalism. If he thinks there is a copyright problem, he should instead flag the picture for speedy deletion, thereby triggering a process - a debate. This in fact in already under way, as a result of the previous flag on the picture, which is why you should submit any proof you have ASAP on the copyright question.

By the way, next time you restore the picture (if necessary), you should simply revert the edits that took it out. Go to the prior version immediately before the problematic version, click on the date, and then edit and save the page. This will go straight back to the previous good version.

User:JD_Fan 30 Sept 07 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 03:26, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Here's what I wrote on ZAKDAY's Talk page:

QUOTE

I notice that you deleted the Alexz Johnson photo, and was wondering what reasons you may have for believing that there may be a copyright problem with this photo. Can you provide clarification?

I've been in touch with the uploader and am seeking further information/proof on the copyright/licensing status.

For my part, I have no interest or involvement in this photo, other than to note that it's a good one. But the article does need a photo.

I have contacted Epitome Pictures to obtain photos with full documentation on the licensing, but this will probably take time.

User:JD_Fan 30 Sept 07

If you think there is a problem with the copyright status of the picture, you should use the Wikipedia deletion process, and not just delete it without explanation.

The article needs a picture, and repeated deletion of the only picture is a form of vandalism which I will take up with the Wikipedia administrators.

Also, you should not keep deleting your Talk page. It's there to facilitate communication. You should also reply to your messages. Wikipedia is a community.

User:JD_Fan 1 Oct 07

ENDQUOTE

So if he keeps deleting it without explanation, I'll raise it with one of the Wikipedia administrators I know.

By the way, here's his Talk history page —Preceding unsigned comment added by JD Fan (talkcontribs) 03:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Follow-Up on Alexz Johnson Picture

edit

Here's the latest state of play in a note to the person who is proposing Speedy Deletion of the picture:

JD Fan 01:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll leave all this for a while, hopefully having bought some time for the photo. Please get back to me soon with some clarification. I've taken this as far as I can.

JD Fan 01:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, the person proposing Speedy Deletion got back to me right away. Please see his note, as referenced in the "state of play" link above.

If you have a version of the photo with camera metadata, that will go a long way towards resolving the question. High-res + metadata would be perfect. If you have a high-res version, it would probably be best to place it in the Wikimedia commons, under an Attribution ShareAlike license.

Best to act quickly on this, to get the photo firmly ensconced in the article. Other photos (with all the licencing info and proof) will be uploaded in the future.

As I mentioned, I will be getting photos from Epitome Pictures. But I really like your photo, because it shows her as a person of energy and intelligence, which is a great portrayal. I'm inclined to leave your photo at the top, in the info box, and to place any photos from Epitome pictures (as clickable thumbnails) further down.

For an example of an article with several photos, please see the one on Jenny Galt (which I wrote except for the last two paragraphs). I was able to get the necessary clearances for the photos directly from her.

JD Fan 01:41, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

We now have a set of high-quality pictures from Epitome Pictures, with all the necessary licencing permissions. Please see the note on this.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Judeharrison.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Judeharrison.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:32, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incomplete AfD nomination

edit

Hi. I see you have nominated the article Yuna Ito's Third Studio Album for AfD, but it looks like you have only placed a deletion tag at the top of the article page and not completed the other steps necessary as described in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. You will need to complete the AfD nomination, otherwise it won't be able to be processed. --DAJF (talk) 01:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:-BoA - ID peace B.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:16, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Newspv.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Newspv.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:37, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the recent move of "Dōshite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimattandarō?" to "Doshite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimattan Darou?"

edit

About the title of the song - it's should to be romanized with macrons according to wikipedia guidelines (WP:MJ) unless there's evidence for "doushite kimi wo suki ni natte shimattandarou?" being the official romanization. I know it's commonly referred to as the latter, but is there a source out there for it? - rairakku(talk to me) 02:43, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Mitsuki152. That move was completely inappropriate. Reverted.

And no that is not the "correct" spelling. According to WP:MJ the "correct" spelling is "Dōshite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimmatandarō". And please, next time consult other users on the talk page. Moocowsrule (talk) 04:54, 15 October 2008 (UTC)moocowsruleReply

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Idpeacebj.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Idpeacebj.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
