Welcome

edit

Hello, Donna friess, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! A note

edit

Hello! I'm impressed with your work at Donna Lewis Friess. I'm glad to see you've begun adding inline references. However, I must caution you that you can't cite Wikipedia as a source. Also, your Wikipedia citations don't appear to support the facts you're using them to support: for instance, you cited to Wikipedia's Oprah Winfrey Show article to support the proposition that Ms. Friess appeared on that show, but that article makes no mention of Ms. Friess. Perhaps you meant to link to those articles instead? Wikipedia articles often link to other articles when it's relevant in context—when a typical reader might want to click the link; they shouldn't be used needlessly. To do that, use brackets:

I like the ''[[Oprah Winfrey Show]]''.

renders as:

I like the Oprah Winfrey Show.

As detailed at Help:Link, you can also use a "piped" link to change the title, like so:

[[Oprah Winfrey Show|Ms. Winfrey's show]] is my favorite.

becomes:

Ms. Winfrey's show is my favorite.

The Wikipedia Manual of Style's guide to links is a bit long but gives useful guidance on style issues in linking. (The Manual itself is also a useful resource.)

Oh! I almost forgot: put punctuation marks (comma, period, semicolon, etc.) before, not after, ref tags. See MOS:PUNCTFOOT.

For whatever it's worth, I thought your article was interesting. I read the Los Angeles Times Magazine article cited therein, and I'd like to say thank you for your bravery (I cannot imagine), for standing up and telling your story, for working to help others. I applaud you.

If you need anything, feel free to ask. Best— Rebbing  20:53, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
