Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Ashy-headed greenlet.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Your edit to a.o. Cinnamon-throated Woodcreeper

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page Cinnamon-throated Woodcreeper do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

You are adding quite a number of links to external links sections (though also adding data), but the link is not to a specific page, but to the main domain of the site. Firstly, wikipedia is not a linkfarm, the link should probably not be in the external links sections at all (maybe used as a reference), secondly, the link as it is now is not permittable per our external links guideline. --Dirk Beetstra T C 08:46, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have added the external links to avibirds.com and not the content page (which of all specied i added exist) because of the changing Ip addresses. My content is on a different server to which i refer using the Ip address. The Surinam database is unique to the net and is a genuine effort to describe all Surinam species. Because of the lack of information I added the avibrds link, if i would link directly to the content page, f.e. http://62.194.145.32/birdz/suriname.cfm?trsend=Bicolored%20Hawk at the next change of Ip address it would be a dead link. I was NOT trying to link my avibirds site everywhere just for the sake of it.{{subst:unsigned:dolhijn}}

I indeed had a look around. That the site does seem to give good information, but indeed, you cannot link to datapages alone. I am sorry, but that makes it not very useful as an external link (which it was not anyway, it is way better as a reference, see our reliable sources guideline and see our guidelines on citations and how to use them). As I understand from your answer, and from the site, you also seem to have a conflict of interest here. May I suggest the following two things: First try to get a static IP for the site, so you can deeplink to the right pages, and then contact a suitable Wikipedia:WikiProjects (e.g. Wikipedia:WikiProjects Birds to help you e.g. make a template. By the way, you were adding the link to pages where you did not perform any other edits, which looks a bit spammy to me. Hope this explains, and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me. --Dirk Beetstra T C 09:06, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmm .. the wikiproject on birds does not exist .. but there must be a suitable one out there. --Dirk Beetstra T C 09:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank your for your speedy reply (must be Dutch like me :-)). I will not add the links anymore until I comply with wikipedia link ruling. Suriname and European birds have my special interest, and due to the lack of information on the net, I added this link to all those obscure species with hardy any information. Next time i will be more carefull. Groeten, Jan—Preceding unsigned comment added by dolhijn (talkcontribs)

I found the project: Wikipedia:WikiProject Birds. Well, I was still around here, so I noticed your edit directly (and I think it is also a must if I issue a warning, I should follow up on that). I guess contacting the wikiproject on Birds is a good plan, you seem to have a lot of information available, they might be able to help you further. A template could also do the trick, when the link changes, all you have to change is the template, and everything works again, though I think it is still better you get a static IP. Also, I think the links should be used as references, per the guidelines for the citations I mentioned. --Dirk Beetstra T C 09:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:EL. You may not add links to sites that you are associated with, commercial or not. Nor may you get somebody else to do it for you. I have no comment on the one you removed, I merely reverted your spamming of Wikipedia with multiple links to your own website. Corvus cornix 21:22, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well corvix have a look at the site in question, it is welcome.to/watchmovies. Allthough I wont drag this topic forever, my pages are accurate (took my 5 years to collect and edit the information) and to the point, it is descriding cinematic history in all countries of the world. I did not spam, i just have all those country pages available. Next to this I cannot believe you do let clearly not to the point sites exist and remove mine. Something is not right there. Anyways, wiki is probably not for me, all I get is what I add is removed because it is "commercial" or something to that matter. Good luck in you future choices.

If you have a valid rationale for removing other links, and not just out of spite because your link was removed, then by all means, please do so. Corvus cornix 22:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
