3rd opinion edit

adding request for 3rd opinion once was enough, there was no need to add it again to 3rd opinion page, let the user who has responded to the request, do his work. show some patience. الله أكبرMohammad Adil 00:09, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I wasn't sure if he was going to give his opinion only once or if he'll return again. digitwoman (talk) 05:05, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Hi there,

I would love to join in but for the fast approaching semsester end.

Quickly, a few first thoughts:

1. The motivation for the conquest - The very reason Persia was invaded was because it's Zoro rulers rejected islam. A messenger was sent to the King with 2 options submit to Islam or war. The very motivation for the conquest was the promotion of islam and religious persecution was the logical consequense that followed.

2. It is essential to establish a time frame, since the article is on the Muslim conquest of Persia, one needs to make a distinction between persecutions during the course of the conquest and those that happened after it. This would refer persecution by the invading armies under umar. Let me see if I can dig up more dirt this rogue ;)

3. Sources - There is no dearth of references regarding persecution of Zoros, but you'll have to lookup the specific timeline within the context of the article to provide a source. Persecution was rampant and documented after the fall of sassind empire. Which is when Persia was officially in the hands of the Arab beduins.

4. My references - I began writing up article with few off hand sources which I knew in the long run wouldn't hold ground (such as the economicexpert.com), however I was replacing them with solid references such as books and journal papers. There are many books cited in the reference section of the article, some are comletely available on links, you can search through them.

I will chip in as time permits, and will forward you relevant references soon.

A curious question, am I speaking to a Pakistani Zoro?

Cheers Saroshp (talk) 12:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

We'll I am one step away from being an atheist, just too much in love with the Zoro culture more than the religion :p

References to all the claims can be found in here: Boyce, Mary (2001), Zoroastrians, their religious beliefs and practices (2 ed.), New York: Routledge & Kegan Paul, p. 252, ISBN 0415239028, 9780415239028 {{citation}}: Check |isbn= value: invalid character (help)

References that you *specifically* requested are on Page 148 and much much more :) Few excerpts are as follows:

http://books.google.com/books?id=a6gbxVfjtUEC&lpg=PP1&dq=Zoroastrians,%20their%20religious%20beliefs%20and%20practices&pg=PP1#v=onepage&q=slave&f=false

1. By Tabari records, Arab tax-collextors in the eight century would mistreat Zoroastrians, tearing off the sacred girdle and hanging it round their necks in derision.

2.The humiliations of the poll-tax drove others to renounce the old faith

3. they have accepted islam only to escape the poll tax ...lol

Click on the link, most of the book is freely available. This should keep you busy for a few days ..hehehhe. If you need references in to prove or disprove claims, post it on my talk page. I will get back to you ASAP.

Happy editing. Saroshp (talk) 23:21, 14 December 2009 (UTC)saroshpReply

sandbox edit

i have created a sandbox of yours prepare your stuff there i will edit it too once u r done, and we can invite a 3rd editor if we dispute over some thing, U probably would like to add in it wht has been proposed by User:Slatersteven on talk page of the article. الله أكبرMohammad Adil 14:27, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

hi, You better see this before u revert my edits, the book zoroastrians, their religious and believes when mention about the humiliations gives reference to this book by Tritton pg.227.

[2]

Tritton mentions the whole passage with a decisive and clear statement at the end tht i have not been able to discover wht authority the writer have for these statements, so he himself isn;t sure whether they are true or fabricated. See it at page: 227.
So wht u wanna say ?
For the time being and for peace, i have reverted ur edits back to mine.

Pictures of Transitional Fossils edit

Hello, I'm contacting you because you appear to have done some work on List of transitional fossils. The problem I'm facing is this. I'm interesting in making a video and other content in favor of evolution, and I want to show pictures of the fossils in chronological order, i.e fish -> amphibians -> early reptiles -> mammals, etc. However the wikipedia page is showing only the drawings and not the fossils. Do you know where I might be able to find pictures of the real fossils? digitwoman (talk) 20:57, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

There are only drawings because most of the original pictures are under copyright. The Smithsonian website [3] [4] has good photos and a pretty generous fair use provision, but IANAL so tread with caution when using them. Nowimnthing (talk) 20:22, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
